Pics of my Delta ram air setup..

Lets try this agin with now spam.

Hey folks I am trying to figure out a way to squeeze out a 13.6 NA and I figured what better way then RAM AIR! Hahaha.. Well today I decided to tinker around and see what I could come up with.

My plan was to get a air filter directly behing the headlight. This way at the track I can quickly remove my headlight and have a effective ram air setup. This is very simaler to what you see the eclipse guys do(they jsut pull the light though). This should definatly help a bit at the track wether it's hot or cold out.

Heres what I did..

First I had to find a way to safley and easaly move my battery out of the way.. I did so by removing the whole thing and rotating my tray as seen below.

With a ton of luck you can rotate the tray and 2 bolts still line up perfectly, my battery is in there real good now. A 3rd whole is going to be made for safe measures.

Now with the battery out of the way I intend to postion my air filter right where my headlight goes, as seen below..

Now keep in mind the piping is not definatly final I may attempt to get some nice smooth aluminum piping in place of it. I am not sure if doing that is worth the bother though.

Heres a pic of how my car looks with the filter sitting right behing my headlight..

I am thinking of making a permanent setup with my fiter right behind the headlight. I can easaly box it in and make a CAI out of it. Or well atleast it will be colder air.

Well tell me what you think, the goal here is to hit 13.6 all motor remember..

You sure it is not going to be a slight disadvantage now that you got a bit more drag than having smooth air flow with the headlight on?

13.6 is just a set of slicks away. I've seen mustang/F-bodies run 13.2-13.7s @ 100-102mph. However given your FWD a 1.9x 60' should net a 13.3-13.6 as you are now .

i dunno...

it seems like the best solution, but maybe not.

i'm not trying to hate, but it just seems that any stationary device that is sucking in air needs to have stationary air around it. Inconsistant, turbulant air is a mixutre of high/low pressure air, and this could possibley have adverse effects on the intake effeciency.

Weak point in case: Have you ever stuck your head out the sunroof window while dirving or rode a motercycle without a helmet and windscreen at high speeds? If so, you would notice that it is hard to take a proper deep breath.

Then again, I could be wrong. Just throwing out the idea though..

you guys would be suprised to see that this will actually work...me and Dave B and several others in my area were at the dyno a couple weeks ago. my friend brought his spec-v sentra to dyno it (all it had was the pr cai/hybrid setup) he laid down one run and on his second run we angled his intake on the TB upwards so it was sticking out of the engine bay and towards the fan and he gained 7 FWHP and 11 FWTQ!!!!! it was crazy.....

interesting placement.. the only problem I see is that you need to either box off the area where the intake is so that the air is forced around the intake, or you need to angle the filter so the forced air will hit it sideways...

Might help....but

Why don't you make some sort of funnel to channel the air to the filter?

Also, a filter with an open top section like the Apexi might help a little.
