These SC stories have me....

concerned enough that I believe that instead of saving up to purchase an SC, I'll jump on a nitrous setup. Question is...what should be done to prep my autotragic for it? Tranny cooler, intake, y-pipe or can all those things be done subsequently? I know the going suggestion probably will be to do it first, but is it NECESSARY or only beneficial? Thanks gang!

dude I'm with you.
I've decided to forget the SC and save towards a turbo kit.

But for now......I'm gonna have to go on the bottle.

I would think at the very least you should get the VB mod, and
have all the basic bolt ons (ie: y-pipe, race pipe, catback,
intake) Tranny cooler is always good idea.

other than that....I simply don't know, so hopefully others will reply
to this thread for your sake (and mine)

I've had two straight problem-free years out of mine and those were the most fun filled! With the way that I drive I'd have hoped for at least a couple more years before it needed work done on it. The SC still does its job but its become more noisier. Makes one wonder what is the lifespan on these things.

Sounds great and I love the threads on the hp and torque of the blowers, but there are enough threads on noises, oil leaks and overall issues with Vortech and Stillen that I'm not ready to deal with the possible implications. Now if a turbo kit comes to fruition for a reasonable price that would have to be looked at but for now....I'm off da SC bandwagon. I mean geez, if you spend 4 F'n Gs on something you don't want to be worried about it AT ALL. If there are issues and its under warranty, you want them resolved expeditiously, not go through 20 emails with Vortech and/or Stillen idiots. I don't know man...just don't know. I need power....but I need power with the security that comes with good customer (NO)service, warranty support and overall problem resolution. Maybe I won't find that on a turbo or NOS system but I won't know til I start digging. I'm glad yours has faired well though.

I couldnt say much because I just got mine boosted. My installer, Y2kevSe highly recommand a vb mod, tranny cooler and synthetic ATF. I have seen his tranny wear (with 2.87 pulley for 20k miles) and mine (34k miles of NA) and his tranny wear is much less than mine.....

I have pictures of Kevin's tranny pan and mine on my site...go take a look.

turbo charger....hmmmm I doubt it will fit onto an auto because the auto tranny is too big.

dealing with vortech is another issue if u go for the SC....if u need to have ur SC rebuilt, I will just call vortech and tell them u have a V2 s-trim needs a rebuilt. Do not mention anything about stillen or maxima. then, take off the stillen plate (I wont send the plate over anyways, I think that's more valuable than the blower) and pulley then send it to vortech. cost = 400 bucks.

overall....SC is more reliable for auto tranny IMO because of its linear power increase...

y2kevse did a 5spd swap a month ago....

I doubt it will fit....at least for sure that Nigel's kit will not fit an auto max.

I now have Y2kevse's SC and his VB mod.

Nitrous is awesome no doubt about that. Just cause two or three people had problems with superchargers does not mean all vortech SCers are garbage. The only bad thing about Nitrous is it runs out and a $35 fill up. Thats all. I dont regret getting a SCer. I am happy with it. Turbo is nice too. Dunno know if you seen Nigels high HP and Torque numbers thats alot of power out of 11PSI.

Yeah I don't mean to degrade everyone who has an SC, but there have been a few that have run into major issues when trying to get warranty/repair service performed. Perhaps its trully not an issue after all though. **** I don't know what to do....all I know is I WANT MORE POWER!!!! Somebody help me...

I know how you feel; I was in the same spot a couple of months ago. I decided to get the SC despite some of the problems that some of the people are having. I could be wrong…But I believe that if your not racing from light to light everyday you should be fine. I'm getting it because I have NOS for a couple of months now and I am only on my second bottle (unlike some people that I’ll leave name less are on their 20th bottle )I don’t beat my car up so I thinking I should be fine.
