What is the widest tire size you can put on a 3rd gen w/out the tire rubbing the wheel well when you turn the wheel sharp??

I've seen 235/45/18's on a 3d Gen, but I wouldn't be certain if they rubbed or not. I know for a fact that you can get away with 225/45/17's.

you can get a 235 on it with out problems if your offset is right. Some tires rub and some dont. I'd play it safe and stick with a 225 like I did. Its still a huge difference over stock. The wider you go the more weight anyway. And if you do use a 18" wheel go with a 40 profile not 45. The 45 is for the 17's.
