Reinforcing the Rear Sway Bar Mount
Reinforcing the Rear Sway Bar Mount
I want to reinforce the upper rear sway bar mount before I install a ST sway bar set.
Is it possible to reinforce the bracket without having to hot weld a new bracket in? Like cold welding some heavy duty washers to the insides of the brackets with JB Weld. Would this be strong enough, or is heat weld the only way to go?
Also is it unsafe to drive the car without a rear sway bar installed?

now..
yes it's possible to reinforce the bracket..but YOU MUST WELD or use another mechanical mean to reinforce it.
heavy washers will only be as strong as the weld to the frame.
JB weld is not going to do it here...it may patch a hole in your oil pan..but no way in he11 it's going to stop a 3000lb+ car from leaning.
When I get the rear Addco bar, I'm going to invest in a little mig or arc welder and get creative. I've looked at for a while, they seem pretty flimsey. They generally pull out of the frame right? Does it break anywhere else?
