Okay, i have my 97se with clear bumper lights, what a great looking mod in itself. Anyway, i have a rosewood max, and i got some red/purple...more red now that they have faded some and have put them in the "running lights" (the 1 section of bumper lgihts, not turn signals, and also the corner lights) HEre is my question, if u have running lights that are red, like mine, would u think they are illegal? I mean of course when u look at them u will say, thats not stock, but if u have your breaklights on they are red, so the red lights up front shouldn't be illegal? well lemme know what u guys think?
I'll post a picture in a few minutes

Are you saying that you have red lights on the front of your car? That's definetly illegal.

Yeah

- Ever look at an aerial view of a highway at night? Red going one way, white going the other. Swapping your bulbs around so that you've got red up front would definitely change this view. Now imagine the little old lady who looks in her rear-view mirror and flips out because she sees "brake lights" where your headlights should be. Her eyes would fly out her windshield.
- This is why this is illegal. Don't change 'em. Some things are the way they are for good reasons.

Red lights that are visible from the front are illegal except in 'authorized emergency vehicles' and u will definetly get a ticket for them...

post up some pictures and we'll be able to tell you better. I'm the guy with green headlights and I've had no problems so far.. as long as your hadlights are very white, they will overpower the red/purple lights and will not be a safety or cop issue. Sure they will be illegal, but I'm going on a few weeks with not a bad look from the cops for my green lights. Just remember, if you get pulled over for something else, you will get the ticket if he see's you lights

Go for it

I have blue ones in my car. They have just the right amount of blue to look cool and get attention but not enough to be illegal. Get them from http://www.aieonline.com

Federal law requires yellow light and reflective on front side marker and red light and reflective on the rear side marker of vehicle that visible from the side of the car. That way when somebody sees a car from the side especially at night, one knows where is the front and the rear of the vehicle.

That is why new cars that have clear turn signals, have the appropriate color bulb in place as well as yellow reflective on front's side and red reflective in rear's side.

Federal law also requires white light for the front lights and red light on the rear lights. Only Police and emergency vehicle can have other color of lights.

That's right as wicked1044 said, Federal law also cover information about lights for the front dash, rear deck and roof a vehicle.

Unless it is really bothersome, police will not stop you with the slightly flavor color light but they may give you tickets once they stop you for other infractions if it obivious to them. It is all in the individual cop's judgement. Basically you should put the appropriate light color in its place according the federal law.

When they write this guidelines, they never thought about the invention HID and slight flavor color lights but as long as DOT approved then you are ok.
