I went to buy myself a cargo net for my Maxima from my Nissan dealer. I though the installation should be easy right? Well, I ran into some problems. I installed the cargo net, but found out that it came off easily. I placed the two loops on the two right side anchors, and about to do the same to the left side. When I pull the cargo net to get the loop onto one of the right side's anchor, the whole left side of the cargo net just popped out. I inspected the anchor mechanism, and found out that it was quite easy for me to just yank it out with my hands without much effort. I don't see how secure the cargo net can be when it's just basically hanging on by some carpet and the four trunk holes where I suppose to place the anchors at. It's kind of hard to describe, but I just can't see to install the cargo net in securely. I know that a few of you here have the cargo net installed in your car. How do you guys do it? How do you get it to be secure, so it wouldn't pop out so easily? I thought this cargo net would solve my problem of having my stuff thrown all over the trunk. I hope I don't have to return it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Are you sure you installed the replacement

"anchors" in place?

You're suppose to remove the 4 pop fasteners (2 on each side) and replace them with aluminum anchors... they're kinda like pop rivets. A supplied tool is provided in the kit. I've had mine on for about 3 years and it holds well.

FYI... I would remove the trunk liner before putting in those aluminum anchors... that way you don't permanent fasten them in...

I removed the 4 pop fastners and did replace them with the aluminum anchors. However, those anchors didn't seem very secure. The tool that was supplied didn't seem to help. So, I just put the anchors in by hand. I noticed they were loose, although they didn't fell through because of the top of the anchors were wider. I'll try again tomorrow, I just hope I'll have better luck this time.

I have plastic anchors that snap into place. Some of my mounting holes were too small, so I had to use a drill to widen them. Check the diameter, if possible, with a 2000 Maxima & look at those mounting brackets. I did not receive the metal ones like you have described. Does anyone have a pic of the metal ones?

Yeah, I wish they gave me something like the 4 plastic fastners that just snaps into place. These metal anchors doesn't seem to fit; it's a bit loose. I wonder do any place sell maybe like those plastic OEM fastners, but with a hook/loop, so I could tie the cargo net to it? I checked today, and didn't found any. I guess I'll go and see if I can find some elsewhere.

Is the net specifically for your Maxima (95-99)? Otherwise, if possible, take that one back & get a 2000 cargo net. It comes w/the plastic loop anchors, fits fine & has 6 anchors, 2 for each side & 2 for the top. If there is a dealership open today, take a look at the 2000/2001 Maxima & you'll know what I am talking about. Good luck.

???

The anchors go in loose then as you screw in with the tool it tightens up... keep turning until it is no longer loose... don't overtighten too much...

After the anchors are on tight... the large plastic pieces screw into the anchors... there should be no play in them...

I'll try to take pics tomorrow and repost here...

That is an awesome looking ride. i especially like that front end shot (pic #6). How much did you spend on appearance mods on yor Max? Whatever it cost, it was well worth it.

Thanks Gregg

Aside from the rims/tires... only a Stillen front lip and partially painted mudguards along with the generic exhaust stuff...

Chunger: Thanks for the pic, but I have the diagram already. Maybe I just didn't install it right. I'll try it out later, and see if I still have a problem. Thanks guys.

Well guys, I installed the cargo net. I found out that it was quite simple. All I had to do was just use the tool that was supplied to tighten the round nut. Last time, I thought I didn't have to use the tool to put in that round nut. So, all in all, it was just my mistake. Thanks Chunger for your info anyway. I feel like a fool when it was so simple. me<---
