About 6 months ago I had a bad experience in the rain, and I ended up hydroing. I spun and my car slammed into a curb bending my rear axle and taking a large chunk out of my rear right wheel. I got everything replaced (wheel, tire, axle), and everything was fine for about 4 months. I then started hearing a squeeking sound coming from my Rear passenger area. I'm assuming that something else could have possibly been damaged most likely related to suspension.
So:
*What exactly happens if/when a strut fails?
*Should Nissan have noticed this when they serviced my car and could it possibly still be under warranty? (I had my car diagnosed and serviced at Courtesy)
*Is there any way I can check my car without taking the entire suspension apart?

If there turns out to be no warranty coverage I may end up getting a set of Koni/H&Rs, but I'd rather not spend the cash atm.
Thanks in advance.

failed strut..

Your car will bounce more on that side.. the test that other faq's have recommended is to push yer car down at the bumper, and see if it bounces more than once.. if it does, its hosed.. (its a lil hard to tell still)

As for the squeeking sound.. that could be a whole slew of things, but im not sure itd be a dead strut. Have you checked your brakes?

Its not a brake squeak, and it only happens when I go over bumps and such.

I know what yer talkin about.. my car does that. It only happens when you go over a bump, hard.. going over softly doesnt do it, right?

If so.. im guessin yer stuck in the same hole as me.. dead struts.. im eventually gonna buy konis..

A strut can fail in a couple of modes. The most common is a failed seal (internal or external) and the dampening goes away. The shaft can also seize in place (wheel won't move up or down). Squeaking is usually due to rubbing. It can be a dry bushing in the suspension, or the spring in its seat. I suppose a bad strut could squeak, but it wouldn't be my first guess.

problems

i have the same problem that you are having, whenever i hit a bump it makes this annoying noise, even though i have 1 new right rear only gas shocks, tokico is suppose to be good. i changed my springs last week, and ever since i hear the stupid noise. so what i did is, i took out the maxspeed springs out and put the original back in the rear only, but it still made that noise. can there be anything wrong, other than the obvious? should i get the original shocks that nissan use, nissan still gives me warranty as long i put hte originals back, but the guy who took it apart, blew the right rear shock, that's why i have tokico on right rear only. sorry to long of a note.

My front driver side strut went out while it was still under warranty. Nissan replaced it with no hassles. I brought it to them because I felt a "bobbling" type vibration through the floor while on bumps or accelerating.
