i think that sprintmax found a layout of it and put it in this forum's FAQ. Check there.

in the FAQ I didn't see any thing by sprintmax, but I did see a thread by ericdwong
"My Car Comes with the Bose stereo, how can I add to/upgrade it? "

There was a link to remove you stereo, http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalNisMax2.htm

Though I'm still not sure where I'd be plugging the power for the CD changer, how would I plug a factory cd changer?

If I got an FM modulated one, how do I unplug the antenna ..?

EDIT- I HAD posted this, but the FUKING FORUM WAS JAMMED UP WITH POST ****** so I got a "too busy" message!

The link to the directions to take things apart is in the audio FAQs, not the regular (general) FAQs.

For the changers and power:

For an FM mod changer, you will get a 12V constant from the battery for memory, and a 12v switched from the cig lighter or Bose rear amp (if so equipped).

If you get a factory changer, it will be all bundled in a single cable.

As for the antenna, you will plug in the FM modulator behind the dash (to the radio using an antenna adapter) and run the cable back to wherever you have the changer located.

2 things to consider:

Factory changer will sound better if you keep the stock HU, but will not be compatible if you ever go aftermarket. FM mod will sound pretty close to the stock for 99% of applications, but will be universal if you decide to upgrade the HU down the road.

the fm modulator doesnt remove the antenna, it just sends a radio signal to your antenna as a radio station. its usually 88.5 FM

phenryiv1 trust me I'm having agonising time debating weather to go with a factory cd changer from courtesy for $200 with installer

Or I can go with the Sony MP3 Changer which will cost around $215, I can stick the control for that into the drawer in the dash to maintain a stock look. But looking into the future the sony apparently can't be plugged directly into a Sony head unit either, it's exclusively FM operated.

Though since I'm keeping the BOSE head unit, the changer can be accessed by a one touch operation, I'm tempted to go for that. I just hope more things in the head unit don't get messed, so far it's only the CD player, the radio and cassset work just fine.

Well, you need to look down the road and decide if you will ever upgrade. If you will, I would think about getting an FM modulated changer. Many brands let you upgrade to direct-connect down the road.

I am sticking with the stock, b/c it is stealthy and not as likely to be stolen, but I also listen mostly to a single CD or the radio during my commute. When I was more CD-oriented, I loved having the changer as an option.

It is really dependant on whether or not you will upgrade down the road.

I gave in and orderd the stock changer from courtesy last night, I wasn't keen on having to turn the radio, then twiddle in the drawer for the chagner control. Also wasn't sure if I don't turn the power off, would my battery be drained.

i've never heard of a FM changer that won't let you plug directly. The FM changers use a modulator box between the changer and the radio. If you buy a Sony Changer and a Sony HU, just remove the modulator and you should be all good. That's how it was on my old Sony, JVC, Pioneer, and Kenwood.
