where can i get 2 rear replacement struts cheapest?

i was gonna just use someones stock struts as replacement for my blown rear ones, but the ones i got from someone were no good, so i figure i'll just get new ones. does anyone know what are the cheapest ones and where i can get them? i know tokico blues and KYB GR-2's are usually what people get(i don't have the $$ to get kyb agx and don't feel the need for sporty ones)...so, anyone have any ideas where i can just rear two really cheap? all i want is ones that will last and aren't crappy, i'm not looking for anything fancy or sporty. thanx

Get the GR-2's then. Not too much and are basicly just all you need.

I think at tirerack.com the rear gr-2's are like $50 each.

How many miles do you have on the car? You will most likely need new dust boots if you have over 80k.

Boot choices are pretty limited. OEM Nissan or KYB (from Cattman.com)

Mounts are probably ok unless you live up in the frozen north somewhere (Canada)

are those monroe really bad or worth laughing at? i know they're not for performance but as a strut/shock, are they that bad?

i have just under 90k and live 30 minutes south of boston.

i don't mean to seem like the biggest cheap skate...i am just in college and have no money really and want to just replace them so that damn noise goes away...performance shmormance....just need cheapest solution that won't crap out.

one other small question, since stock ones are struts and it seems all aftermarket ones are shocks(?)...do they just directly fit in there or does other stuff need to be changed. i'm almost sure they work the same, just want to make sure.

For a little extra $$ go for the GR-2. They are much better quality. In ride and construction.

Here's basically what you're looking at..

(2) KYB GR-2 rear struts $60 each = $120 Direct replacement
(2) OEM Nissan rear boots $25 each = $50
Installation through a mechanic $50-100

all rates are approximate. So plan for about a $250 job altogether.

If you drive around with bad struts for too long, your tires will go bad too and then you have to spend even more money to replace the tires.

Dont bother getting a mechanic to do it. It is an easy job. It wont take you more than two hours or so.

I just had the monroe sensatracs installed and it's worst than I could have ever imagine. It's a lot more bumpier than the worn old struts. It's a smoother ride in my old 92 corolla.
