Seems that I now see quite a few more Maximas with the big fart exhausts an big aluminum wings. Is the Max getting as ricey as those Civics? I hope not. I bought ti b/c it was a sleeper at the time and less commonly modded than a Honda (just to use as an example). What do you guys think?

 

Nah, it really depends on the person modding it and the setup they use. A lot of people on here dont want a loud exhaust setup. Some ask specifically what mods will keep it quiete. Plus for every modded max on this forum there are about 100 stock ones out there.

I don't know about where you live but I'm in NY and I've never seen a max with an aluminum wing around here.

 

It's because the 4th gens are now on the used market at prices that the average rice-minded HS-aged moron can afford...

Theres nothing wrong with being ricey. The civic is probably the car that boosted the whole import scene so theres nothing wrong about that. Let the max be ricey so it can get the respect it deserves.

That doesn't mean all average rice-minded HS-aged morons want them!!! They can afford old GMC Jimmys too, but they don't want them. Most of them still want Civcs and Accords. Onlt the elite few like Maxima. Some of my peers think I'm dumb, some have envy. Nah who am I kiddin', they all have envy.

I don't think Maximas are getting ricey. I like that they are coming out with more and more mods for the Max. However aluminum wings would be stupid on the Max. There are none where I live.

it's always "ok" to have altezzas if that's what you like. but in most cases they just look stupid.

 

Sorry to break it to ya, but there are Altezzas for BMWs and Benz (what the hell is the plural of Benz? Benzes? Benzs?).

Saw them with my own two eyes and damn me for not having my digicam with me. Saw Altezzas on a 3 series and some clear white tails on a Benz, forget what model.

 

My HS friends said "why did you get a maxima, you could have got a way better car" (honduh or some crap)
And when we hit the streets, they see why

Maximas are such sleepers, such underdogs. Every single time someone gets into my car who isn't formally familiar with the Maxima, and I am sure with all of you, they are completely impressed with every aspect from sound system to ride quality, it's street abilities, and all it's sexy ways.

 

I agree, Maximas are very fast even at stock, lame Civics are not... Thats what makes Maximas special, they are quality cars... I think the only way Maximas would get "ricey", if people only mod the Exaust alone. I think quiet exaust makes the car more of a sleeper, Exaust should only be modded if you have a boost, like a SC, Turbo, or Nitrous.

 

Some racers do know about the maximas power. When my mom first got the car which she then handed down to me. People been telling me maximas are fast. I think they probably raced one before but they still do not want to buy one because i think its way too expensive for the average enthusiast. But anyway my friend had a integra gsr and i couldnt believe i beat him in my moms car. The day my mom drove the new max in the driveway i was like aw man what the hell is that...u shouldlve gotten an accord boy was i dumb.

Depends on the Altezza

 

I've seen a red 3 series with altezzas and ugly chrome rims. What are these people thinking ruining such a nice car?

 

Some people who like it conservative may say that about us.

 

So most of us agree that Maxima + Aluminum wing = Ugly ricey Maxima.

I really do like the sleeper effect. I get more than enough attention on my crotch rocket so I like not being challenged at every red light with the opportunity to drive "spirited" at my leisure. Maybe I'm getting too old???...

I don't think that wings or altezzas make the car look ricey if you know how to match the colors. I think dark maximas with carbon fiber or gunmetal altezza look cool. And the max from The Fast and the Furious movie has a big *** wing. I still don't think that car looks ricey. I think ricey would be big *** wing with altezzas and everything else stock. That would make the car look ricey. But every one has a different opinion.

Very true, though "ricey" is not the word for such hightly tuned imports - this "sh!tty" mod-job is usually saved for the worst of the worst pepboy specials such as...
