Look what happened after getting new CV boots.
Look what happened after getting new CV boots.
Damm, I took my car to get new CV boots on monday, and when i got it out my air bag light stays on blinking the whole time my car is on. What does that mean? Am i going to be driving and the air bag pop out and knock me out? Will it not go off if i got in an accident? Oh and also since i got new rims i hear a metalic scraping sound coming of one of the wheels. Its really loud now. I think it might be the brakes but it goes faster as i go faster. Help guys please im scared.

Take it back to the person who swapped the CV joints! As for the rims... is it the front or rear.

The metalic sound after your CV boot was fix is probably just the splash guard that got bent and now rubs on your rotor. Easy fix, just bend it back.
Your Air Bag light flashing has nothing to do the your ABS system or the sensors.
Something has failed in your SRS (Air Bag) system. Only your dealer or a mechanic certified in Air Bag SRS systems will trouble shoot that system. If I were you, I'd head to your local dealer and have the SRS system checked out ASAP.
The Air Bag will not deploy if the system fails. The flashing light indicates the system is no longer active due to a failure.

When you first turn the key on, the airbag control unit checks all airbag components. There is a small possibility that it will get a false reading from one of the systems (e.g., radio noise, etc) and trigger the airbag fault light. Being that is is after all a safety restraint system, the code will stay stored until it is manually erased from the memory. Also, an abnormal voltage reading can also trigger the fault.
If the "problem" was simply a false trigger, resetting the light 'fixes' the condition. If you have a genuine problem, the light will come back on again after you reset the light ... it is then that you would take it to the dealer.
It could be purely coincidental that the airbag light came on when RAZER got his CV boots done. Mine came on after I removed my front honeycomb grille (4th gens do not have a CZS behind the grille so it was impossible for the grille removal to trigger a fault).
If I'm not mistaken, the ABS system is separate from the SRS system, there should be no relation between the skid sensor damage and the airbag light coming on ... if the skid sensor was damaged, the ABS warning light should come on instead.
In comparison, the CEL (check engine light) is a bit more forgiving because it waits for multiple occurences of the same code before the CEL will come on. However, the SRS system is a very delicate system and the light comes on the moment a fault is detected (regardless of whether it is genuine or false). For the SRS, it's better to be safe than sorry.
Reset your airbag light (prcedure by DBM):
1) Open the driver's door. Note the rubber covered button, a button which is pressed by the door when the door is closed. This is the Driver's Door Switch (DDS).
2) Turn the ignition from OFF to ON. Press the DDS at least 5 times within 7 seconds after turning the ignition switch ON. Turn the ignition OFF.
3) Close the driver's door. Start the engine.
The light should be off. If it didn't go off, you could try again just in case you didn't do it right the first time. If it comes back on again, take it to the dealer.

Maybe your mechanic wanted to make some extra money and replaced your SRS computer with one that has already been used to deploy airbags. Everytime your SRS computer triggers airbag deployment it needs to be replaced or rebuild.
Tkanks ill try reseting it in a while. What Could i do if someone sold me a car with out air bags from a dealership. Can i take it to them to pay for it, because they told me it had airbags. How much do air bags cost anyways?
