BIG Accident with my 98 MAX! Need Your Thoughts (And Moral Support!) Details Inside

Hey guys,

Well i had possibly the worse weekend of my life. It all started on my way to work on a rainy saturday morning, 7 a.m. I was getting off the highway on the service road when all of a sudden I see one of those trucks who carry the construction road signs in the back cut me off. At this point i'm going about 70 km/h, all was cool there was about 15 meters seperating us when all of a sudden i see the truck starting to break and turn on his flashers in the f***** Left/Accelerating lane. Before i know it the truck is completely stopped, i slam on the breaks, but started skidding right away due to the poor tracktion caused by the rain (Even with my good Bridgestone Potenza Re 950 235/45/17 tires) didn't help. So there I am in a deilema with 3 options: Option 1, skid into the wall on my left, Option 2, skid into the middle lane and either smash into the guy there or he smashes into me from the back (Depending on his position which i don't know ), or option 3 smash into the back of the truck knowing that there would be no damage to the truck obviously due to the large metal rear plate that was sticking out. And before i was left to decide, there I was with the airbag in my face, sniffing that dretched power (Does anyone know what it is btw), freaking out. There was not even a skratch on the truck, meanwhile on my car, the impact was right in the middle of the bumper therefore the lights were left intact however the radiator seems to be busted and the support that holds it is now in a V shape and not a solid bar, the radiator was leaking antifreeze all over the ground so i'm assuming it's busted but i haven't got the estimation yet. Other than that the engine and everything else looks ok, just the bumper is finished , part of it went flying , and the Windshield as well and the radiator are busted. Does anyone know what kind of ballpark figure i'm looking at for repairs, (I know the airbags are a b **** to fix, that's why i'm hesistating not fixing them)( I drive a 98 max btw). I found some parts at a local scrap yard, i found a radiator for 125$, and a windshield for 175$ but what am I looking at in terms of front bumper and labor etc.. Also do you think there is a chance there could be frame damage? Thanks a lot guys, all moral support is appreciated.

Just a few hours ago on here someone pointed out a non oem (but looks identical) bumper on Ebay. I think it was going for like 40 bucks. Maybe that is a start?

Sorry to hear what happened and wish the best of luck in bringing the car back.

Well first off....do you have to pay for this? I would think that truck would be run by the county or whatever and have to be insured...depends on who's "fault" it is though

i don't know why the truck stopped but it looks to unfortunately be his fault since he hit him from behind. That really sucks man, i'm glad you are ok and i can tell it must feel real bad to think u can TRY to avoid the accident and just have it happen without any way of stopping it.

I also was in an accident a good month back and my car was totaled. I don't know what to say about payments or anything because it all depends on insurance policies and who's at fault but i along with many others have been through this sh*t and you will survive. These next weeks, maybe month or two may be rough but give us all feedback, trust me, it will make you feel a lot better when you have people listening to your problems and ready to give ideas. That's what happened to me and i came out better than i was before my accident.

Once again, sorry from meccanoble

I remember that horrible smell also. And don't be stupid and not get the airbags fixed. A few grand is nothing if it saves your life one day.
