ECU question

I have an ECU off a 1995 Maxima. I got it from a guy that I was stationed with and now he's gone. He upgraded to a new ECU and I got his old one for a reasonable price.

MY PROBLEM: I don't know if his car was an Automatic or Manual. The S/N on the ECU is A18-E11- ER1 then, in a little square the numbers 5124. Is this ECU for an AT or MT?

Thank You,

(search turned up no results)

Someone can probably tell from the serial number, but there is also another way to tell. Is your car auto or 5spd?

If you are auto and the ECU is a 5spd, it may not work entirely right. BUT you can use an automatic ECU in a 5spd, and here's how you can tell if your 5spd is using an automatic ECU. When you shift into gear at idle, clutch in, just sitting still, the RPMs will jump a little bit when going from neutral to any gear IF you are using an automatic ECU. I got scammed and an .org member sent me a stock automatic ECU that he claimed was a G-Force ECU, so that's how I know about these things

Give me a Nissan part number.

10 digits.

^ I'll check it when I get home from work. Where would this be located at? I don't really remember seeing this number anywhere on the unit.

The only other numbers on the ECU is a SKU type number, it is 00647776-A18E11ER1

I don't really just want to plug this thing into my car.

Thanks

It will not hurt your car to plug it in.
