would like a opinion on what my new car should be

hey guys wussup, and some of you may already know,i was in a accident last week with my maxima....it doesn't look too good and i'm guessing the insurance company is going to consider it totaled...so with the $10k they are suppose to give me if they do, i was looking up carsi could possibly buy, i'm looking to go fast, but with a car that has a wide vareity of parts thus it would be easy to hook the car up for less money, i was considered a maxima but its so hard to find a 5speed 4th gen with low miles thats under $8K....so then i thought about getting a 95-99 240sx and either swapping the engine or turbo charging the stock engine, but then i realized today ( because this car passed me by while i was driving)a 95-99 sentra SE-R, i looked them up and found a few of them for low prices with low miles...i found one that had 48K miles and was going for $5889, that would leave me with about $4k to mod out the car and turbo it ( it does have the SR20DE engine so i figure it would be easy to custom make a turbo for that car) what are some of your guys opinions on what i should do?my friend told me to get a civic hatchback and drop a gs-r engine in their and he said it'll be cheap, but i didn't really like the idea because everybody has civics and i'm trying to stay within the nissan family because they have reliable cars.....my maxima was a great example, that car lasted through alot and never gave me trouble, and the durability or the frame and the supports of the car probably saved my life in the big accident i had with the car, the guy who was doing the estimate on the damage of my car said "you took a hell of a hit, you sure u aint sore" and he was pointing out the frame work of the car and stated that the car had a great structure to it and took the impact of the accident in all the right spots insuring that the driver wouldn't get seriuosly injured..that was a great car!

quick question?!? do the 240's rust out like the older 300's??? my bro has a 300 which is rusted to hell, so he is parting it out on ebay!

find a 92-95 Civic Hatchback and custom swap an SR20DET motor and tranny in it. That would be crazy as hell. you can get the motor and tranny for like $1500 from jspecauto.com. well, there's my two cents...

If you can find an S14 240 thats in good shape, I'd take it for an SR20DET project over the SE-R obviously because of RWD. I say this after my roomie put his S14 into a guardrail last week in the rain, but...for power delivery...

On the bright side, 240s are cheap afa price goes.

If you want a culmination of speed and reliability, honda may not be out of the question, but if you are one of those "I dont want a civic project because everyone else does that" kind of guys, then that limits things. Although you could do a H22A turbo project or something like that in a 4th-gen lude. Then that's FWD again though.

I guess think a little more about FWD vs. RWD if you haven't already, and go from there. I mean...there's always a used Miata turbo project...who cares if it looks like a bean when it goes so fast you can't even see it (and handles nice, too). A used A4 would be nice, but a little expensive, and what fun is buying a chip to open up a factory turbo?

The problem with getting a 240 and swapping in a JDM Spec turbo engine, such as the SR20DET or the CA18DET is that its illegal. Depending on where you live chances are is that your car won't pass emissions and if the guy knows what he is doing you might not pass the visual inspection either. If you don't have a problem with insurance then why not go all motor with a 300zx NA? If you want easy power go for an older Eclipse, Talon, or Laser. The 89-94 DSM models have a higher flowing head than the newer ones and they can produce more power very easily. You can also find these cars in all wheel drive. Buschur Racing is a prominent dealer for DSM parts and I can tell you that the prices for upgrades to a DSM is much cheaper than any upgrade to any Maxima. You can push 3 to 4 hundred horsepower with about 1500 dollars on a GSX or GST model. Another option would be the Celica All-Trac. All wheel drive, 4 banger turbo 200hp. Toyota didn't import many of these to the US so they are hard to find and parts are a bit more expensive but you will get what you pay for. The SR20 front wheel drive cars are also another great choice. This includes the 200sx SE-r, Sentra SE limited edition, Sentra SE-R classic, the Infiniti G20. The older G20 would be my choice out of these cars because it has a wishbone suspension derived from the 300zx. the classic se-r also has a fully independent rear suspension so thats an option. F-MAX makes turbo systems for all these cars, as does Hotshot, I believe the price is running at around 3500 dollars. plus installation. You could also go with the late eighties supra turbo. Alright I guess I'm done throwing stuff out there, good luck with your search! Oh yeah HONDA sucks!
