those of you who have lowered your maxima....

I have a question, I want to lower my max about 1.5". I know how much the springs will cost, but could some of you tell me how much you paid for installation? This will depend on whether or not I get springs and Y pipe or just the springs. thanks.

Find a fellow org member in your area with expierience doing spring/strut installs. They will usually do it for a small fee($50-$100) or sometimes for free. Make sure your there to help, so then you know how to do it to. Then you can help someones else out down the road.

I got quoted $260 by a local import shop. luckily i declined and had my friend do it for $150. That was springs, shocks and struts.

It would have only been $75 but once the other guy found it there were shocks and struts, he had to raise the price.

If anyone lives in the san diego area, go to Group 5. I had my spring/struts installed for only $90, they do a really good job and are very honest and reasonable with how much they charge.

do I need 2 get shocks and struts @ same time

sorry if this sounds dumb, but I dont know much about suspensions...would i have to get new struts and shocks or can i just get the shocks? I'm sure it would be better to replace both, but is just one of them ok, I am only going for the lower ride, not necesarily a firmer/softer feel to the car.

I would do it myself IF I knew how to do it, so considering I've never done this before I'd rather not take the chance of messing something up. and besides I dont have the equipment, a lift or anything to do it myself. If someone has a link or something with a good guide for me to do it myself then can you post it??

ok, a little bit of info--the struts are the fronts, the shocks are the rears...get KYBAGX, highly recommended...fully adjustable, and are great on handling w/ aftermarket springs..your stock shocks/struts will wear out real quick w/springs(6 months to a year) unless theyre really new, nor will they handle the new stiffer springs as well...i have B&G springs(1.6" drop) and love them, but if youre 5 spd dont get them cuz the back might sit a little lower than front

As for installing it, i went to jeff's shop-Maximum Tuning in long island, NY-516-676-8470...$100 for a great quick job, he's very well reputed especially since he has an insanely nice max himself, and knows everything about max's front back top bottom, and alotta org members from the NY area go to him for all sorts of work

so basically this is going to end up costing much more than I figured...since you guys said I should get new struts and shocks too. I was going to get an Eibach adujustable coil over kit, seriously the stock shocks cant handle them?? They should be able to if you ask me...I'll have to check around then.

koni's usually run sumwhere around 400+ for all four, so perhaps thats just the two rears...KYBAGX can be found for about 350 as a good price, check group deal or for sale forum for post...springs can have a wide range of costs, ranging from $100 for maxspeeds to like $200 for like H&Rs or Eibach(prokit), and then its a whole another price range with coilovers, never really bothered lookin into coilover kits cuz theyre expensive and harsh as hell, but probably the only things can make the max looked SLAMMED without having to cut coils
seriously, its not me who is saying that the stock shocks wont last long, just about anyone on the org can tell u that
