Pacesetter STS settings

I have a 1995 Maxima SE 5-spd and just installed the Pacesetter short throw shifter. I was wondering what settings you guys have the shifter at. I guess you can adjust the height as well as the throw right?

Is there a point at which it could interfere with the exhaust, if it is set too low?

I just want to get an idea of the shortest setting that someone has it at without any problems with the exhaust and I would like to know what that setting is.

Thanks!

Just take off the heat shield and set it to whatever feels comfortable for you.

Any other pros/cons to trashing the heat shield?

i heard when heat shield is removed it gets real hot in that middle area.

For some reason after i had my y-pipe installed, my shifting has been a little loose and funny feeling. Not bad but it was real tight when i got the car and now its kind of loose. I thought i was killing the clutch but now i have other doubts....

If your shifter feels loose, you better check under your car and tighten the bolt that connects ur shifter to the tranny linkage. That happened to me and eventually, as I was coming onto the highway, I downshifted into 2nd, tried shifting into 3rd and the shifter had broken loose from the tranny. I had to drive around in second gear for a couple of days until I got a replacement bolt from Nissan.

The reason why this happened was because a short shifter changes the fulcrum (?) or pivot point and the piece where the shifter connects to the tranny link was lower and hit the heat shield when I shifted (and it had been bent prior to this). I took the damnn thing off and noticed no heat increase. I'm sure if you tried really really hard you might see a very slight change, but I don't feel a difference. Better to have a little extra heat then be caught in one gear. I was lucky I was in 2nd and able to drive my car home. Imagine how much it would've sucked in 1st, 4th, 5th, or reverse...
