Every time I make a right or left turn I get this constant clicking noise. I know that I have to replace my cv boots/joints but do I have to replace the axel as well? If so can someone who is semi-mechanical do this in a day or so? Thanks

 

depending on whether or not you have reuined the joint, the axle may or may not to be replaced. also, depending on whether you do it yourself, the cost to purchase new axles and do it yourself can sometimes be cheaper than paying someone to replace the boots alone. In my experience, replacing the axle seems the easiest.

 

If you wind up just getting the new axles, I reccomend raxles.

If you CV joints are gone, its just not worth it to replace only the CV's. Too much time, too much labor, too much cost. You can get remann'd axles from Autozone or Napa for under $100 with a lifetime warranty. Some say they've had bad luck in getting axles that are too long or what not, but just compare the new one with the old before you install it to make sure its 100% right. I've bought 6 Napa axles to date and haven't had a problem with any of them.

Otherwise, Raxles makes nice, new units. However, at 140 a pop, they are expensive.

Replacing an axle is easy. I can do the ones on my SE-R in a little under 1/2 hour. Good luck!
