300zx fuel filter doesn't fit
300zx fuel filter doesn't fit
I asked my mechanic to install the '96 fuel filter I bought. He says it will not fit the holder. Many have said it will fit on the org. How do you get around this problem?

it wont fit in the bracket, you can buy 300ZX bracket or take the bracket out of lets a say a Nissan truck and it might fit the filter.. otherwise dont worry about it, mine isnt secured very well but its all good

It does fit the bracket, mine has been in there for months. The only reason he is saying that is because he hasn't tried it, he just looked at it and yes, it does look like its way to big, but hit holds in there just fine.

Exactly. This has come up a few times on the .org. Sometimes the mechanics are just lazy and dont even bother trying.

The mechanic is more likely paid a flat rate for changing the filter. The larger filter is a bit more awkward to get in there, the bracket is a bit smaller, and if it ends up taking him longer, it's money out of his pocket. If the car comes back with a fuel leak where the filter was just bouncing around since it fell out of the bracket, it's HIS fault.
On the other hand... I installed the larger filter on my car, and so far it seems to be staying in the bracket. (which I had to widen out a bit)
A lot of those 'little' modifications can end up taking twice as long to do as the 'factory stock' alternative. The mechanic doesn't want to spend his extra time and make himself liable for your compulsion to modify your car.
If you want to do these things, it's usually best to learn to do them yourself.
I don't work on cars for a living, but I've worked on cars enough to learn that mechanics often 'lose their a$$' when they go off the beaten path with seemingly minor minor things that end up taking forever.
Good Luck!

I just can't believe people here try to use Z32 parts on Maximas!
Show some Maxima pride. I use Nissan OEM
Why can't I have dual intakes and dual exhausts and the low rider look of the 300ZX?

Another question, one side of filter shows "OUT", and I assume fuel flows upward, so I installed it where I can see "OUT" in top. Is this right setup?
whats the point in putting a 300ZX fuel filter in anyways? better gas flow or what?
i would do a search but this thread is here and alive so i figured I'd go ahead and ask while its here.
