So yea I am going to need new tires for my 18's. What do you guys suggest? I think I am going to go with Yokahama Paradas, any other suggestions(a good all season Z rated tire)?

I have Yokahama AVS db's which I like but they suck in the rain, good tred life though....

I don't think the Parada comes in 235/40/18. They do come in 225/40/18. Aren't they summer tires too?

check out Hancook tires..... i have the Ventus 225/40/18s and i love them...they are awesome in the rain and are also a 300 treadwear rating so the last a long time... they are fairly cheap priced as well

 

Sumitomo HTRZIIs I have 245/40-18s good grip good treadlife... dont know about wet traction I live in Cali

Bridgestone Potenza RE730- very nice all around tires 245/40-18
Falken Azenis or whatever- not too quiet not very good tread life, tractions is pretty good 245/40-18

Bridgestone Potenza SO2 Pole Position- AWESOME tire great performance- treadlife... well not very good I have 245/35-19s

just a few of my experiences... maybe try the Yokoama AVS ES100s

I really want to stay away from Khumo's and Falken's. I will do some research on those tires and see whats up with them rating wise. Thanks for the info though

 

NT-555 is the way to go but you will need so more $

 

my brother has Nitto 555 R Drag radials on his car and they were $$$$. I am looking to spend between 120-170 at the max for a tire

 

If it were me, I'd try the Yoko AVS ES100's. Cheaper than your db's, true, but way newer technology. And how can you go wrong for $130 ea? No need to break the bank anymore for 18's. Good luck.

yup I've heard good things aout the ES100s, try tose or really I'd buy Sumitomos again or bite the bullet and go Potenza, my Potenzas have been great tires

 

Get the Bridgestone's. Either the RE730 or S0-3, both are very nice. Worth the money IMO.

 

i have kumho 712's on my stocks right now, 235/40-17.

i just got 18's and will be running them again in 225/40-18. they are great tires, excellent wet traction and quiet. they are inexpensive also.

I got the sumitumo's htr+ in 235/40/18. It is a good tire and around the same price as the yoko es100.

 

they do but i think they are close to 200 a tire... my 18s were only 115 a tire

 

low noise, great ride, decent price.

 

Yeah, the drag radials cost quite a bit but the regular NT-555 ZR
is easy on the pocket book and a phenomenal tire in my opinion. You
can check prices at your local Discount Tire. I personally think
they rock and I now have two other friends who bought them after a
ride in my car (245/45/17 NT-555s).

My 555's are wearing a little faster than I anticipated. They are wearing evenly though. R yours wearing fast?

 

Nope. Check your pressure and alignment. I'm thrilled with the
wear from the NT-450s I had before and these 555s. Compared with the
stock GoodYears, Pirellis and Michellin XGTs I've run, these are far
better (IMHO).

Pressure and alignment are fine. They are wearing more in the front than the rear. I don't do alot of holeshots and I might do a burnout once every 2 months. WTF?

P.S. My girl's 450's are wearing fine.

 

A bit off topic, but why are many of you running 235/40-18s instead of a larger and 245/40-18? For those witha 5th Gen, that size is closer to the stock 225/50-17 diameter (and correct speddo reading).

I was planning on running a 245/40-18 on an 18x8.

another good tire:

Sumitomo HTR+ all season high performance
and
Sumitomo HTRZII ultra high performance summer tire..

Sumitomos perform well and are a nice bargain, there is mixed feelings on road noise or premature wear.. but overall, they are a bargain too.

Check out the Toyo Proxes T1-S. They are somewhat more expensive then your regular tires, but they are well worth it. They have an awesome tread design and are probably the best I have used, in wet and dry weather. They beat out the Kumhos and the Pirellis that I had (and hated). I got mine for $148.00 a tire (cost) from a regular car garage and it ended up being about $670.00 installed for all four. Good luck on your tire search.

 

Z-rated and all season don't go together.. Go with the sumitomo htr+ all season performance since it's almost winter!!.. I made a 25mph turn at 75 on a wet road and I survived..
I only have Eibachs to go with the tires. Awesome handling I must say!!.. And I believe it's in your price range..

I've been happy w/ the performance of my Kumho 712's for the past month...

 

well my Yokahama AVS db's are an all season Z rated tire, at least thats what the VP of town fair tire told me when I bought them. Anyways alot of people are telling me to go with Kumho's and Sumitomo's and so far their rating are very good and they arent that expensive. This thread confused me even more about what tires I wanted for my 18's. I will do some more research soon. Also does anyone know the ranking of tires from most expensive/best to most affordable/average to worst? If so please let me know.

I have Kumhos and I like them. But I dont know about the wet traction though. Everytime when i drive in rain.. looks like my car is in the air every now and then. Ever since i ran a curb with these kumhos (in ice) I am scared to drive when its raining. I might go with some sumitomo.. All season ofcourse

try toyo proy t-1s I have them and love them in the rain

also try dunlop sm901 I hear they are ok

and the s-03 aint to bad either

I looked up the NT-555 and Ecsta 712s and the price was only 5 bucks more in the 245/40/18 size. Are the Nittos better? 5 bucks is nothing if they are. That's the way I'd be going myself

 

im running 235/40/18 on the kumhos ecsta 712.. i really like em and they arent expensive.. about 130 or so.

 

From what I have heard the nito's 555 suck..
