all I did was ziptie the wires of the sensor to the cylindrical bottom of the filter so that the sensor was right next to the filter element.

This is what Frankencar instructions said:
"The sensor just needs to be close to the filter" or somethin along those lines.

What if the sensor is literally inside the filter? Not dangling, but put in a position where movement wasnt a problem, and in eh way of the air flow?

I only screwed the sensor to a little piece of metal that I fixed to the body of the car with a few screws and place the sensor near the filter and that's doing fine for me.

Yeah its the sensor on teh stock intake box. I didnt abuse it, at least I dont think. I have other codes thrown at me cause of problems with my knock sensor and stuff. But when I rant the ECU code check thing, the code for the intake sensor still pops up, I guess it will take a couple of days or something. I just hope that the way I have i is right and wont make anything worse.

I have the Frankencar with the Apexi filter on my 95, all I did was drill a little hole through the rubber that connects the filter adapter to the MAF and push the senser in the hole. It fits nice and snug and looks professional like it was made with the hole for the senser.
