help, green powder on the battery terminal
Re: help, green powder on the battery terminal
This is pretty normal for batteries. As they age you end up with some buildup around the terminals. Just clean with a wire brush or a battery terminal cleaner if you have one. If the buildup gets too bad it can cause a bad connection and your car won't start.

Re: help, green powder on the battery terminal
Totally normal. The powder is caused by the acid in the battery oxidizing on the terminals. A routine part of maintenance is cleaning battery terminals. Go to an auto store and buy a terminal cleaner (looks like a cap with stiff metal brushes inside) and a spray can of corrosion cleaner. That will take care of the oxidation. Also, buy some colored felt terminal post rings. That will help prevent future oxidation, although not eliminate it.

or u can go the cheap route.... just be careful that u dont let it touch both terminals. Use coca cola - the kind u drink - and clean each terminal SEPERATELY..... it works just as good, but as the guy said, use a stiff brush, remember it's sulfuric acid in the battery.

putting some baking soda on and then pouring a bit of vinegar on there cleans good too

Even cheaper, take a cup of hot water and pout if over the battery.
