It is technically an alarm, so you will qualify for the insurance discount if your company has one. In the real world, it doesn't protect crap... If you're worried about your car get a good aftermarket alarm.

How do i test the alarm to see it's db ? and performance
Does it have motion sensors?
How to test
Lock your self in car for one minute, windows up and doors locked. Open door. Cover ears. Have a nice day.

I think the door lock delay is only with the GXE models, which came with electronic door locks, but not with a factory remote entry. (Not 100 percent sure if you're spared the delay, but you're probably OK)
I have a Python/Viper/DEI alarm, with the Starter kill option, and it works great. I have lived with the door lock delay for 2 years. You get used to it, if you have to.
I don't know if they still sell these, but I had a "Pain generator" in a Mazda Miata I had years ago, intended to make it uncomfortable to spend even a few seconds in the car (designed to protect your stereo, contents of the car, etc).

Factory alarm
Most cars' factory alarms have the arm-delay feature after locking the door. Before the maxima, we had a 90 Continental that had basically the same exact functionality - 30 second delay after locking the door with the power locks with the door OPEN (did NOT work when locking the doors while they're closed, such as when you're inside the car, which makes sense) or by pressing the lock combination on the keyless entry, and starter-kill when armed. I tried starting the engine once while the alarm was going off...no go.
I believe the Maxima works the same way. It also has a hood sensor (and probably a truck sensor) that I discovered while doing an oil change - just open the hood, press the alarm switch down (located at the right front), lock the doors via the remote, wait for the red light to go off, and let up on the switch. The horn should beep and the headlights will flash with the horn. I also believe it has a starter-kill feature, but that just prevents someone from driving it away. You could tow it, vandalize it, or in my case, put the car in neutral and push it!

Oops, I suppose that's a good reminder to be really specific when we write...
In my case, I was referring to the 1 to 2 second delay after the sytem tells the doors to unlock, before they do actually unlock. Many people have complained about it in the past, and many will continue to complain, I'm sure. It is kind of a pain to live with, specially if your system is programmed to lock the doors when you drive, because when the time comes to turn off the engine and get out the car, the doors may take an extra second or two to unlock.
I read one post where someone had wired the remote leads straight to the door lock mechanisms to bypass the delay. Any tinkerers out there tried that yet?
Most systems also have an intentionally designed delay too, before arming, to give people time to walk around the car to get their groceries, kids, etc.
