UR UDP removal
UR UDP removal
i've read plenty of posts on taking off the stock one, but has anybody removed the unorthodox udp?? i took the stock one off without much of a problem. using a crowbar and such to do it. nonetheless, i'm about ready to ram my head through a wall trying to take off my present udp. i know there's an access port to the flywheel on the driver's side. however, there's a crossmember of the suspension right in front of it which almost renders it useless. i've tried using a small punch and hold it between the teeth, but i think that it's just gonna tear up the teeth more than what it already has if i keep trying it that way. i just need to get the pulley bolt off and i can go from there, it's just a matter of that worthless bolt!!!

I read if you hold a breaker bar on the bolt and then crank the engine a little without starting it, the bolt should come loose.
Try that.

think an impact wrench would work just for taking it off?
:o)
You can get to to the nut but can't turn it? Or you can't even get to it? What I do for real stubborn nuts/bolts is put a long pipe over my wrench for more leverage/torque. (M=Fxd) Good luck.

However, I tried to remove 3 months later and no go. I took it to a friend who had a 650 lb impact wrench and it still wouldn't come off, he was afraid it was going to break the bolt.
To make a long story short I had to heat the bolt with an oxy/acet torch, with a very small flame so it just heated the bolt and did not get on the pulley (cuz its alum of course) after 5 mins of heating it finally came off with the 650 lb impact wrench.
It ain't fun if you have to go through that.
Good luck.
