Cold air box with stock parts?
This would be like weapon R's idea for a cold air box, the best of both worlds. This would be a straight shot towards the throttle body, with minimal piping, and a cool source of air that was impervious to engine heated air.

My idea is to open up the bottom of the stock air box with a couple of three inch ports through the fender well. The design of the intake and air box are ideal for this, it already sits against the fender, and the air will still pass through the filter before entering the path to the throttle body. I would also fabricate a midpipe from the MAF to the throttle body, to one day intstall nitrous, and smooth air flow a little more.
I believe that cool air is the way to go as far as intakes, but the bends, and the cramped space of the fender wells (I think this is why CAI test low in the top end) leads me to try and fabricate my own. This obviously will also save me a little money, and I love fabricating and working on cars.
Anyone tried this, what do you think about this idea?
