the hood of my 2003 maxima is slightly loose in front where the latch is located- is there a place that i can adjust to get a tight & secure locking of the hood ?
when i drive over 70mph i notice a fluttering of the hood from the wind.

 

hey. if the dealer doesn't fix it, i have a quick fix. somebody backed into my car recently, smashing the grille...got that fixed, but the hood won't ever be the same now. it never rattled before, but then after the accident, it did. i went out and bought a thin magnet (1/16th, 1/8th in., whatever). if you open the hood, you'll see a rubber stopper towards the front of the hood itself. there is a metal bar that that stopper makes contact with. right at the contact point, put the magnet there. then, take some durable all weather tape to hold it down. this basically lifts the hood a bit to its proper position. hope that we actually are experiencing the same problem, and that this solution was useful.

 

If you check the TSB's you see a fix for this, which also involves glueing the hood to to frame on the inside. I have to have this done myself next time I bring the car in.

I tried the rubber stoppers and stripping on the lights, but it didn't help with the vibrating. If you look at the hood while it vibrates, you'll notice that it's loose in the center of the hood (over the engine) This is the area that has to be glued on the inside. Yours may be different but that's how mine is.

 

I have a 03 SE and my hood is like that too... You can actually see it move while going down the highway... I'm going to have the nissan garage fix it on my first oil change..
