YESTERDAY IN MID AFTERNOON, I WAS TURNING RIGHT ONTO A 4 LANE (TWO LANES EACH DIRECTION)...AT THE SAME TIME A BRIGHT A$$ YELLOW (READ: UGLY) CONVERTIBLE 2002 MUSTANG TURNS LEFT....
THIS IS A ROAD THAT WAS JUST CONSTRUCTED A FEW MONTHS AGO...AND ONLY ONE PORTION HAS BEEN COMPLETED...SO THERE IS NEVER ANYONE ON IT...
NEEDLESS TO SAY...WE BOTH GUN IT....HIS SNOTTY A$$ LOOKING GIRLFRIEND SNEERS AT ME AT THE SAME TIME....
I WAS IN 2ND AT ABOUT 3,000 RPM WHEN I TURNED...COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE PERFECT...
I PULLED HIS BUTT BY MORE THAN A FULL CAR LENGTH ALL THE WAY TO 120 UNTIL HE GAVE UP....
WHEW...MY DANG ADRENALINE IS STILL PUPMING....
SORRY TO BE SO LONG WINDED...BUT IT WAS MY FIRST OFFICIAL KILL....

I DON'T KNOW IF HE WAS AN AUTO OR MANUAL...I HOPE AUTOMATIC FOR THE SAKE OF ALL THE POOR MUSTANG OWNERS IN THIS COUNTRY.....

Actually you came from behind, passed, and put a car on a GT from 30 to 120??? Come on dude, I have a 2000 5spd and we trap on a good day 94mph, and gt's have way more tq and hp and trap in the 97-100mph range.

I know because I had a 00' GT that ran 14.0 at 100mph.

why dont u go find another V8 & try to race it....or go to the Ford dealer w/ one of your friends so yo make sure its a V8 & have him test drive it & race it....i highly doubt you beat a V8 unless you have forced induction on your car

 

This thread is crazy. Someone pull up the stock times of a GT..... I don't feel like scouring the internet for it.

I just ran into a black GT on my way to work today. Coming out of a turn we both gunned it and we were side by side pretty much the whole time up to 100. As soon as we shut it down I was looking over wanting to give him a thumbs up but he didn't even acknowledge me, guess he was ****ed. I wasn't going to post about it because peeps would have called BS on me too, LOL. I was there and I saw what happened, I have no reason to lie to you guys, what's the point? It so easy for you people to call BS but what if the actual story did happen?

 

If it was pre 99 he might have had a chance. Pre 99 they made 215 or 225 HP in GT trim. They would run low 15's (Convertible) high 14's (Coupe) in the quarter if I remember right. The convertibles are very slow. Then add to that if he had an auto, see how Ford's auto's suck worse than Nissan's. Figure rounding that corning the auto shifted into a higher gear then had to down shift when it was stepped into, that takes time. I could see it happenning.

Oh and 2k2_6Speed, nice Mustang, bad license plate. But then I've always been an F-Body (R.I.P.) kind of guy.

 

I beat two of my friends v8 mustangs. One was a 1999 and one was a 2001. Its all about the driver. One I killed at around 120 when he gave up the other was damn near 140 when he pussed out, I was about 1/2 car lenght a head of him. Its all about the driver.

 

Remember though you are driving a 2k3, not a 2k.

 

Very possible he beat the stang (even 99+ GT):
1) max got the jump
2) mustang is auto
3) convertible is heavier than coupe
4) he had 2 people in the car

 

Your smoking crack if you think it was a v8. And Iv hit over 130 in my GXE, trap is no way near 115

 

You had slicks when you drove on the highway? So, you drove like that to the track or vice versa? Is that safe to do?

 

I've beaten a few GT mustangs, I've never come across the 2002s though

its not that big of a deal... not sayin I'll beat ALL Mustang GTs

 

i raced a 2002 auto GT. It was from a stop (his torque just launched him!!) he had a way better start but I was slowly catching up. We did it to around 95 mph and he had a half-car to 1 car on me. He got me.

He does have aftermarket stuff on though, exhaust and this one thing that went near the engine (no idea what it's called)

i had a run with a 97 gt, off the line,
i got him by a half a car by the time we reached 100, i shut down

not bad for 2 cylinders and 1.5 liters less! =]
i thought those things were fast!

 

You also have 40 more hp than him, so congrats......

 

Unlesss u have a 6speed 2k2, in which case it would be a pretty close race.
BTW a lot of V6 are V8 wanna bee and put straight pipes on their cars. The sound could be similar to someone that does not own a V8 car.

Interesting how we have so many Whit Knights coming out to defend the mighty mustang. THIS IS NOT A MUSTANG FORUM, GO THERE IF YOU WORSHIP THEM. I too have smoke my share of stangs but will not go into detail here, last one was a 2K2, but, who cares? I owmed a 90 5.0 back in the early 90's and smoked Supras, 3000GT TT, 300ZX TT, and even many 5-speed 5.0's. Yes, HP helps, torque helps, but driving skills can make all of the difference. Maybe he found someone, like most of us have, driving a car that he did not know how to drive, and smoked him. I know I have done that more than once. Anyway, let the man enjoy his kill. BY the way, I too ove the sound of those V-8's at full throttle, I'll just never buy domestic again.
