If You Don't Like Your Max, Sell It!!!!
If You Don't Like Your Max, Sell It!!!!
I am tired of people posting that they don't like their Max. Either stop crying or sell the car. I don't understand how someone can make a ~$25K+ purchase and not like what they bought. There are people out there that would love your Max, but they cannot afford to buy it. Be grateful with what you have. I love my Max! I also did my research before I bought the car and I knew all the pros and cons before I bought it.
For those who love your Max, keep representin!
For those who have something negative to say about YOUR Max, sell it and get off the ORG.
HOLLA!

I agree with you 100 % . If you think you made a bad purchase , sell the thing. I'm sure someone would be happy to take that car off your hands. Someone that will appreciate a 4 door sedan that hauls a$$ ! Every car has problems. Get over it. Fix it or "Move B!TCH , get out the way Hoe !" ......

people are complaining about the ownership experience not really the car. The max is a great car, that is hardly argued. I think people are just venting about the inconsistant service. Alot of frustration of $10 parts, like door seals for noise and whatnot.
You could do like me, get a rental Grand Am for a few days. That will set you straight. When I got home I wanted to kiss my max square on the dash..

i am selling it as soon as possible. the problem is we paid 25+K for a car and there are lots of corners that were cut. and the worst part is nissan service, HORRIBLE experience anytime i go there for service. it's actually been so bad i will never buy another new nissan every again. and i really want to get that G also but i decided against that due to some personal probs i'd rather not get too much into. i'm looking at a used 4.4 X5 now and BMW will lease you a used one too so max will be for sale as is very soon.
if it's not your car.. why would you care?? did you pay for it or make payments?? do you pay the insurance on someone else's car?? did you spend all the time modifying it??
some people get tired of it and want to move on, and the maxima isn't that nice of a car.. in all honesty it's way overpriced for what you get... especially with the crappy service that comes along with the cheap parts that break on this car..
i won't bring up the fact that a lot of 2002/03 owner's have about 20HP under what's rated from stock figures.

I agree...
Don't let the little things bother you about cars. Every car is a machine and all machines need a little lovin' every now and then.
Making a mountain out of mole hills is only going to make you more and more dissatisfied when initially, the issue was little or...
quite inconsequential (in Dr. Evil's voice).
I hope you are happy with the next car you get because guess what...
there are going to be problems here and there with every automobile until the automobile industry is evolutionized in some great way. Maybe you'll be satisfied when cars can fly.
Well, I know bikes cost a lot less than a car and they will have less worries too...
Oh, and the Maxima is a great car for the buck.

I can see how someone could get sick of people *****ing too much but I guess it is a "Discussion" board after all, people have their issues to discuss and their own opinions. As for mine well for $23,000 I can't think of any other car that would've been just as nice. I like my 2001 Maxima. It just turned 16000 trouble free miles. There is one and only thing I dislike about the Maxima, its the poor handling compared to when I drive my Accord. Fortunately my service department has been EXCELLENT and Overall I like the maxima and I would only trade it in for a 5spd or 6spd Maxima.
btw the people who hate it COULD consider trading it in for another car in its price and class range! other than the Accord and the Camery there are the much so exciting Taurus, Regal, Lumina, Grand Prix then you can all come back and share your perfect car stories? hehehe

again, its rare someone complains about the maxima as a car, its usually something Nissan needs to fix. 95% of our complaints are service issues. I think most of us really love the car, just owning it can be a pain sometimes.
plus, we all have different needs. A small squeak to you might be nothing.. but if youre out with a client or a date and your car sounds like an old dodge dart, that aint so cool...
I have to agree tho, the maxima has a resale freefall.. if you want out, just do it. it wont get any better. By the time Nissan wakes up to what they are doing to the "flagship" owners and their cost cutting becomes more evident than their flashy marketing pushes, your warranty will be long since expired. They wont retroactively right their wrongs to you. Reprogramming their dealers to actually take care of customers will take longer than you care to wait.
I had second thoughts 3 weeks after getting mine. Horrible paint and hard starting right away. I could have lost $2K and walked away. If I could have afforded a Lexus GS, I would have done it.
If I didnt have other priorities right now, I would have taken that 16.8 I was offered last month.

the only car i wanna get rid of is the land rover. it's nice car, but it drinks gas, and it's loud. It shines offroad, but we hardly go offroad. It's also a pig compared to the maxima or the m. I want more car ride....plus, it's big, and everything seems loose in it....i smell an X5 coming to a driveway near u
This is an absolutely stupid @ss thread.
I am one of those that complains and B!tches about the maxima (2k2 only) because i have reasons for it..
I recently graduated from school, and i totally stretched my budget to buy a maxima because i liked my mom's car so much...
And as i have said numerous times, my moms99max is absolutely PERFECT... no flaws, or any problem, excellent build quality..
My 2k2 on the other hand has given more problems (UNRESOLVED PROBLEMS because NISSAN are DUMB @SS *******).... than a pontiac grand am.
And since i stretched my budget to buy this car, i cannot afford to sell it right now considering i put on 24,000 kms in 6 months..
So don't speak becuase you don't have problems that most of us 2k2's suffer... becuase of the following reasons:
1. I own a maxima, i have problems, the org is where i will discuss it
2. You don't have problems, then don't read the complaints, and STFU, like E-MAX says, the grass is greener on the other side
3. When you ***** and complain, there are others who have suffered and may know of a resolution to this problem
4. Some of us, like myself cannot afford to go and sell the car and buy a new car again within a year of ownership, SORRY I AM POOR AND YOU ARE RICH
5. Don't you ever tell me to go to teh civic board, because i already am on a local civic board, and they don't complain as much on a car that is 10K less

I have to say the worst gripe I hear is depreciation (not just from 02' guys either). You are going to lose money if you purchase the car and try to sell it within 2 or 3 yrs!! The avg. depreciation of most sub 30k autos in 3yrs is 50%. That means if you bought a car for 30k it is most likely going to be worth 15k, but as you get into the 4ht year the total depreciation is only 52-54%. So basically it levels off after the 3rd year. Mustangs are the same: I bought one in Aug. of 00' for 21k after rebate and 6mo's later I had to get rid of it because of my job and child on the way. When I went to trade it they only gave me 16k on trade, so in 6mo's I was given 7k less than was the car stickered for!!
If you guys are worried about depreciation, you should lease!
As far as the 2k2 guys go about their 255hp, maybe you guys got the slower of the bunch. I know 2k2_6spd is trapping in the 99mph range with a K&N filter and a powertech, and his friend is trapping near the same with the stock filter and a full cattman cat-back (both 6spds).

biggest problem I see is people buying a Max then trying to turn it into something else. For the most part, people bought their Max because of one thing... 255hp, then they b!tch it doesn't corner like a BMW, isn't as reliable as a Honda, doesn't have the quality of blah blah...
people bought the car because it had the most stuff in a price they could afford. I'm sure if we could have afforded an M5 or AMG we all would have one, but until they start giving those away under $26k we'll live with the consequences of not being able to afford an $80k car.

Had he directed that to the poster and not the topic itself, I would have no choice. I can see the other side, if I had a perfect max I would want everyone to shut up too, as not to jinx mine.
Sorry Tim,
I didn't mean to bypass the lang filter, i just had to vent on the ignorance of people who have it lucky, while other people have spent the same amount of money suffers..
Its bad that we got crappy quality nissan cars, but even worse when other people don't understand when you make a purchase of that magnitude and the only other choice of fixing the problem is SELLING the car and taking the hit..
Tim, in the future i will tone it down..

You post alot and you dont make a habit of it that I see, so I dont have a problem. but thx.
Think tho.. what if your max never had a problem? what if it was perfect and your dealer bent over backwards for you? There are a small percentage of people here that have that. Its not a myth
I've personally known a few and they arent making it up or in denial. From that perspective, you'd think we were a complete bunch of whiners.
But this is a place to vent. Its not like anyone at Nissan or the dealer is going to listen. So I dont see the complaints ending anytime soon. Dumping a new max is financially difficult for just about anyone and not really an option.
You see, people wouldnt be so upset if they still had the max that rolled off the showroom floor. If the maxima was just another Grand Am, yeah.. people would just sell it with no love loss.
The max can be so damn love/hate sometimes. But I guess thats what keeps you coming back to it. The good times are really good and the bad times arent *that* bad usually.

Before the flame boys start to flame, let's get one thing straight, most of us are on this board because we do love our Max, plain and simple. The fact that it is a sub $30K car and has lots of defects ****ES THE HELL out of most of us. There are flamers on this board that have never had a problem with: the brakes, the crappy Bose system, the shifty paint, the crappy windshield, we could go on and on. Those same flamers have been treated extremely well by their dealer, never been lied to by the dealer, and have had their car seviced properly and on time on every visit to their local deaership. Now for those who beleive them, PM me, I've got some ocean front property for sale in Arizona, really , I do. Most of us are car fanatics that have owned many cars, I mean lots of cars. If you bother to read peoples profiles, some currently own Hondas, BMW'S, MB's, Fords, etc. We are not a collectively ignorant segment of the population, so stop flaming, ladies. Most of us have dealt with recalls in the past, TSB's, and dealer servicing. Now, if you pay close attention, I've gotten better service from DODGE dealerships than from a Nissan dealership, that's a damn shame. As much as we love our cars, Nissan N.A. does not seem to want to work for our repeat business. If you add up the cost of repairing the parts on our cars that are defective, I mean that Nissan know that are defective, It gets steep real quick. In its class our car stand alone, hands down. The Camry, and Accord are no direct competitors to our cars,I mean really, no comparison. They are both mass produced for a less demanding segment of the population, they are also alot cheaper, by many thousands. As much as it is a great car for the $$$, we are still paying $$$$ for the car. As long as we are not being forced to pay the payment on others peoples cars, who the HeCk ae we to tell them what to sell and what to buy? As much as I myself complain about my cars quality issues, I'm still trying to work around buying a 2K2. After reading multiple posts on QC issues, I've decided not to buy one. I beleive NISSAN NA has not done enough to deserve my business. Now, I can't even sell the car without taking a big loss, what kind of BS is that? Now you wonder why people flame, I hope my long post give you some insight. If it doesn't maybe you are not reading, you're just scanning through a post to be able to flame. If that is the case, you have a right to respond, just don't flame about something that you don't know anything about. That is not what this board is about. It's always stood for members exchanging ideas and constructive opinions. Even for members helping one another to buy, sell, fix and mod their cars. Not to flame them for not agreeing with every opinion that they have.

I noticed that those who are into modding, are more likely to complain. Even such a small mod as an air intake can cause you f*** up your MAF and then you come out and spit ****. Some people install suspension mods and then complain about the steering/pull probs. Once you modify your car, it is all on you.

<--- well you did ask for it
Btw, don't know how many times you've complained to the service center but don't you think the Lemon law would apply in your case?
Also, what kind of a hit would you take were you give up the Max? After some research i noticed my car is worth exactly what i owe right now if i were to sell it to a private party.
I guestimate that with
24,000 kms in a matter of 6 months
I paid including taxes and extended warranty and other crapola stuff for $43,000 CDN..
If i sold it now i think it woudl be worth about $33,000 so i iwll take a 10,000 CDN hit
