After Market CD/DVD Players.......

When you install an after market Head Unit (CD/DVD Player) does the steering wheel controls still function w/ the stereo???

And could some of you that have these installed, could you please post some pics if you have any?

i dont think it will...well mine dosent...they said that the wire is disconnected!!!!! and that it wont work....i suggest that you do put a system in cuz it sound better then the stock and the bose!!!! it really does...i had the bose and i took it out!!!!!! i put a nice sounding system!!!! not somthin where you can here me a mile away with!!!i am still waitin to buy my dvd player and tv's!!!!

No the aftermarket headunits cannot accept the steering wheel controls plug. You have to buy this PAC unit from Crutchfield to make it work.

But it will only work if your headunit you buy has remote control capability.

Thanks guys, I'll defenetly look into that PAC Unit cuz i want the steering wheel functions to work.

If you buy the SWI PAC-X, make sure you check their website as well. There is more detailed information regarding the wiring than what is provided with the actual unit. You have to install a 47 ohm and a 150 ohm resister inline on the 5th Gens. Good Luck. I've got mine all set to be installed, but I'm too lazy!
