Anyone rolling on 235/50 17" tires???

I notice only Michelin Pilots in this size and they are expensive. Anyone familiar with this size tire and it's ride qaulities? Thanks

There are many folks using the 235/45 on the 17x7 which is not recommended by the manufacturer. 235/50 R17 is the correct upsize for the 17x7 stock rim.

I have the 16s with 225/55 upsize from the 215/55 stock. The ride and handling are much better with the BFG G Force KDWS tires. Unfortunely the Tirerack does not have the BFG G Force 235/50 zr17s.

Your best option is to stick with the 225/50 r17 since the choices are much more plentiful. You would need an aftermarket rim that was at least 17 x 7.5 to fit a 235/45 r17 tire.

If you would spend some time reading the FAQ's and searching, you would find that there IS NO CONTROVERSY on this!!!

Falken makes a tire in 225/50R17. Its the ZE-512 I think. Its around $135 per tire. Check it out on their website.

Yeah, I just bought those tires last week. I didn't get them mounted yet. I paid $145 per tire.
Does anyone else have these tires? Are they any good?

Your personal safety is your business. Yes the tire will fit, but it is not recommended by the manufacturer.

That's how I found out about the 235/50 17".
My question is more around Michelin being the only provider of this size, and does the ride quality and handling improve or degrade.

There is not much of a selection either in 225/50 17". Thanks

I don't know anyone that has them. But I don't know anyone that needs that size tire either. The tread design looks much more radical than our OEM tires, plus they are directional, and have grooves in them to channel water away. Should be a winner. Fairly light too at 23.5 lbs per tire.

idiots who said 235/45's wont fit, i work at a tire place and had my 2k max since june 2000 and have been running my pirelli's 235/45's for almost a year with absolutly NO problem in fact i will never go back to 225/50's because these feel so much better, forget what the nissan mfr says is right and what is not....i bet at one point caddilac recommended that you should not change the stock 15's and 16's on their cars now in 2002 they offer optional 22's!! right off the show room floor. none of you guys with 18's and 19's asked nissan if it was ok did you....because u know what they would say about that. you can go up one size and down one size from stock safely ie: 225-235 $ 225-215, trust me on this i do it with other peoples car every single day the second number ie: 50-45-35 is just the tire profile size that number means nothing when it comes to fit issues.

The "idiots" you refer to are the Tire & Rim Association and every tire manufacturer in the world. I assume you want us to take your word over theirs.

If you look in the FAQs, you will see a technical explanation as to whether and under what circumstances it may be acceptable to run 235/45R17 tires on 7.0"-wide rims. Nowhere in that argument does the word "idiots" appear.

It has been my experience that those who resort to name-calling usually suffer from the condition they ascribe to others. I see no reason to consider you an exception to this rule, maseo77.

According to TireRack specs, the RE92 has an overall diameter of 25.9" and the A/S has a diameter of 26.6". Since this is overall, dividing by 2 will yield the effective height difference of .35". Not sure how precise you want to be, but this is a very small increase.

why'd you divide it by 2?? i'd figure that it would raise everything by .7, almost an inch??? not that bad, either way.

Remember, that is overall diameter...there will be a .35" increase on EACH side of the wheel. Since only one side is touching the ground, only one increase of .35" will actually 'lift' the car...the other just fills the wheel well.

I don't think so either. I am personally running 225 55/17's and don't mind the increase even there.

I can take some tonight and e-mail them to you. Forgive the dirt...it needs a bath this weekend.

My choice was based on price (only about $100.00 each for the Yoko YK420's I put on) and I wanted still good handling, but more comfort over bumps, etc. Gave up some on cornering, but oh well!

Does anyone know if P245/45R17 tires will rub in a 2k2 Maxima? I'm thinking of 17X8 wheels with this size tire.
