Need new Shocks...any suggestions???

My car is still on the stock shocks and they are pretty worn out at the moment. Im looking for some new shocks but wanted some opinions from people that have changed to either Tockico, KYB or any other aftermarket shocks. All info is appreciated.

Thanks

ive got ground controls ready to be put on but i think i am going to go with KYB GR-2s instead of Tokicos. ive heard too many people talking about Tokicos not being able to handle certain amounts of drops. whether its true or not, its still enough to make me lose confidence in Tokicos.

i was going to go with KYB AGX but supposedly those paired with ground controls give you a bunch of squeeking and rattling.

pablo, i think i am going to sell my rims. interested?

I've got the Tokicos and haven't had any problems. Very nice shocks, very good handling, but probably not good if your into autocross.

Tokicos are fine if you like just little bit softer ride...KYB AGXs are awesome but you'll have to modify the front struts and strut mounts to install...Konis are nice but they're the most expensive...

GCs...well...let's not compare that to TEINs...shall we?

ive got the tokicos and eibach pro kit and havent had any problems. The ride isnt too harsh and the drop is nice. I also know of many people complaining about tokicos but i like them. just my $.02.

You also have H&Rs which have a minimal drop. Put Tokicos on Ground Controls and you are asking for trouble.

GC will kill those Tokicos in a few months...but then again, everybody has different driving skills..and also depends on how low you set the GCs...

if you just get springs and TOkicos, that's fine..my set up lasted about little bit over 2 years with many races in between...

I have the AGX and Eibach set up on mine and love it. You can go from riding really soft to so stiff that your teeth will rattle. Cattman has the struts at the best price and installs well, I got the springs from Discount tires.

for those with progress springs does the rear of the car ride lower than the front. I have h&r and still have a massive 3 finger gap front and 2 in thte rear. I am trying to hold out till the actual agx's come out but not sure if I can make it that long. Please let me know what kinda gap you progress owners have. Thanks Matt

I don't mind that its the point that I have 3 finger gap after my h&r's in the front. Most people don't even notice my cars lowered.

Well, I've noticed that most people have lower drops in the rear than in the front. I'm about to buy TEIN springs, they drop the front by 2.2 and the back by 1.7. Also to plan to match these springs with Tokico shocks.

Massive? It's the same size gap as a BMW 3 series. I personally didn't want mine any lower than the H&R's gap. The stock gap is definately Massive and actually looks funny.

i think i saw you post that a couple of days ago. i have to disagree. i agree with Matt when he says people cant even tell his car is lowered. i've have the same experience. i have 2 fingers in back and 3 fingers in front with my H&Rs and you cant even tell the car is lowered.

How many miles do you have Matt? I have 23K with stock struts and the ride is great, especially since I put on my 18's. I'm going with the AGX's when they come out next year

I only have 7k and the ride is fine I just wanna go lower. I am also awaiting the arrival of the true fitting agx's and will probably go with progress springs to give a little more drop.

Your right in the point that most people don't notice it until they see how bad the original gap was. I personally didn't want a huge drop, but I wanted to get rid of the excess gap.

remember that when you look at the car there are no passengers. Put two avg size people on the front and you will see that you have about two fingers in front when the car is occupied. So that is what others see when your rollin' down the road.

Actually for the first time I followed my wife somewhere and she was driving my car, and I think it definately looked lowered. I just hate that rear wheels offset.

I am getting tokiko's installed on Tuesday, so if anyone is wondering how they ride with Maxspeeds I will let you know.

I had H&R springs on my maxima. The gap was not massive, about the size of 2-3 fingers put together. My stock 330ci with sport suspension is about 1" lower than maxima with H&Rs.
