Just lowered my car

Just lowered my car on Monday(new shocks and springs), and today just an hour ago I went back to compress the springs to lower it a bit more to the Australian legal limit of 1.5 inch.

Hope to post some pics soon guys...later.

Well since I am in Australia, we dont have the suspension products that you guys get over there in the states for maximas unfortunetly(although we do have Koni).

The brand of shocks and spring I got are called pedders.

SEGuy182:

Hope to get someone's digi cam to take some photos, properply do it this weekend.

Well by government regulations; I think the stated regulation for a "safe lowered height" is 1.5inch or being able to put "two finger between the wheel and the wheel arch".

Of course anyone can deck their cars to the max, but given the fact that it was lowered by a proffessional suspension workshop, they will not lower it any more than that stated in the regulations(written somewhere?) or they will be liable for insurance purposes if there was to be accident. I think technically anything over 1.5 inch over here is classified as a defect (correct if I am wrong, anyone from Australia NSW)

I thought it was 1.75 (thats what I was told by Mr. Muffler down in Epping in Victoria)...

As long as its low i'm happy... Also how much did ya get your pedders parts for? and How much did it cost to compress your springs anyways?

Hmmm, could be so, like I said I am not sure. I think the regulations for lowered suspension is different for different states?

The total cost for the new suspension package was $1,230. Yes I know its a bit hefty, but the car feels great now, very composed and cornering is greatly improved. (It also comes with 2 year warranty)

Compressing the springs was for free

As Pedders firstly only lowered my car by 1 inch(the Pedders springs only rated as 1 inch lower) and to first see if I liked it or not, obviously I wanted lower, so the guy said bring it back and he will compress the springs as part of the package for free.

Here in the States they govern the height of the car by how high centerline of the headlights are from off the ground. Some states have a rule about ground clearance but you don't go by wheel gap here.
