looks like the deal is closed

Ok,
So I just put down a $1000 deposit on my 2003 Max SE. The guy has to swap for it, and he's getting it from Rhode Island (I'm in MA, and so is the dealer). Anyhow, I got all the options except the Navi, 6 speed, Sheer Silver/black leather, and wheel locks for $25,885. I think that's a pretty good deal considering most places were offering in the mid to high $26K's. Anyhow, he said it's going to be in by Saturday, but here's my question. I read some stuff on the internet where they say how a dealer can screw you over when doing swaps. For example, he can give you a MSRP sticker from a car that has all the options that you requested, but the ACTUAL car does not. I'm pretty familiar with all of the things that this car is supposed to have, but do any of you know some things I should watch out for? Any comments on the deal that I got?
Thanks.

Vito

Sounds like you got a great deal. As far as making sure you don't get screwed, go down and look at the car when they get it. If you have the deal in writing with all of the options listed on the purchase and sales agreement, you should be fine.

Congrats on your purchase. Good job!

It's Coastal Nissan down in Cohasset. The guy told me that he needs to make a quota to get "retro" from Nissan. I think that means that he's going to get money back from Nissan, so he's losing money on this car (as far as I can tell), but he'll make up for it through incentives from the Nissan factory. The original price was $25,825, but then when he set up the swap, he told me the other dealer put wheel locks on the car, so that brought up the price to $25,885, and he said he didn't want to absorb the cost of the wheel locks. I told him fine, since even the $25,885 deal is TREMENDOUS. Most other dealerships in MA and NH were talking around high 26s, and only some were in the mid to low 26s. I'll let you know what happens, but hopefully everything will be OK.
Thanks for the support/help.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to wait a little until I can open it up (i.e. 1000 mile break in period), but I did open up the test drive one, and what can I say other than the cliche--CARS LIKE IT: 0 (at least for under $45,000 )

Isn't 25,885 about 3k under invoice??? I didn't know this was possible. That car should sticker for about 30,600.

I think DEAD COST (i.e. including rebate and holdback) to the dealer is $26,144, so this deal is roughly $300 under net cost. I just found the dealer that needed to make the sale the MOST, and he will make up for it on the retro, and people who buy cars w/out doing research. I definitely have to say thanks to the members here who gave me ballpark figures to work with, and it seems like it's going to work out fine. I'm gonna go take a look at it today after work, so I'll let you guys know how it went.

That is the tough part. When you are sitting in the drivers seat and you have all that power at your fingertips, it is tough to resist just opening it up. (at least it was tough for me to wait the 1,000 miles) Luckily I only had to wait about a week and a half to reach 1,000 miles.
