6 drains or summthin' equals a flush, keeping regular stuff

you must go to a place that has a machine to flush it. Otherwise you only get a few quarts

That is wrong. You'll never get the bad stuff out without a flush.

Yes, I just had my transmission flushed at Jiffy Lube and refilled with Redline D4 ATF. It cost $70 for the flush, and $110 for the 14 qts of fluid that I supplied myself. The transmission itself only holds 10.5 quarts for a full flush and refill (3 qts if you just do a normal drain and refill), but Jiffy Lube's machine uses 14 qts in its reservoir.

Shifts are a bit smoother now, especially when the transmission is cold. No more neck jerking 1-2 shifts at 3500 RPM. But overall it isn't a dramatic difference. It's worth it to get done if you don't mind spending $200, but don't expect the Maxima to shift as smoothly as a Camry afterwards.

i go to Jiffy Lube for my regular oil and tranny fluid changes. I dont have aces to a lift or wanna do it myself. Im too lazy. Jiffy charges me about $45 to do synthetic motor oil (penzoil) and $30 to flush out the tranny. I do the motor oil every. Thats only removing the pan. They also have this pump that pulls all of the fluid out, but it costs like $80 something to do. The good thing is that it gets all of the fluid out of the tranny. I do this usually once a year maybe twice.

The machine uses 14 quarts, so in theory they can use 10.5 quarts but the machine will not have fully completed its flush cycle. You can try to get jiffy lube to only use 10.5 qts, but knowing jiffy lube "techs", they might not know how to use the machine other than the way they were trained to use it (which is using 14 qts).

Mine was recently flushed. It is a big improvement if you have never done it. But if you have done it recently it isn't that noticible. The first time i did it i was surprised because it was just like new. I had forgotten what the maxima was suppose to shift like. But then after a while it goes away again. If you got the money go for it. But just think of everything else you can spend 200 bucks on for your max. My 2cents.
