I think they should be ok till next week, the only thing is that you're going to have a greasy mess all over your wheel well. If I were you I would get that done A.S.A.P.

when they start clicking and making nasty noises, you don't have a lot of time left.. maybe a week, maybe a year. but they're getting close.. get them fixed when you can, but it's not imperative that you park the car or anything.

Must be that turbo power!

They aren't that hard to do yourself but it requires some tools that some wouldn't normally have(do a search)

Visual... the cost is exactly how much a shop in your area would charge you to perform the repair.

If you do the job yourself you'll end up looking like this

If you have the tools, the job isn't that hard to do actually. Message me if you decide to do the job yourself, and if you get stuck I can give some pointers along the way, since I just got done doing axles on a maxima. They cost just under $300 for brand new axles with everything you need included and ready to slide in.

Mine axles made nosie for 2 years till i got them fixed. Your wheels wont fall off, its mostly just an annoying noise. But you should get it fixed as soon as possbile. And i got my axles for about $200.00 froma local parts shop and did the labor myself. (It helped that my dad is an auto mechanic at a GM dealership. Just drove that max right up onto a lift.)

I helped Craig B put in his new clutch this past weekend. He had gone with blown CV boots for over a year but was too lazy to replace the axles. So, since we had to take the axles out anyways to get to the clutch, we went ahead and replaced them. The whole wheelwell was covered in grease. Changing them is not a hard thing, you should have most of the tools laying around the garage, except the 36mm socket that you need to take off the axle. Other than that, its not a hard job, should take you an hour or two.

i wouldn't put 5th gen wheels on, those suckers are extremely heavy for their size.

Alright, what's the biggest repair you've ever done to a car?

Then don't even try it. Pay someone to have it done. You'll probably end up having someone do it anyway. If you've never done any suspension work, an axle is not the place to start. Do you have a torque wrench? Do you know what a torque wrench does? Can you identify what a ball joint, spindle, control arm and tie rod is? Do you have a repair book? If you confidently answer yes to all these questions, then you might stand a chance. If not, then skip it. You can find labor chaper than $100. Check around.
