foot gets stuck when pressing the clutch

Ok guys,
I've got this annoying "problem" here. Sometimes, when I press the clutch down, and then try to let it up, my foot gets stuck between the clutch pedal and the surrounding lower dash materials (whatever you call it). This happens more often when I wear dress shoes, and less often when wearing sneakers. I've tried moving the seat back as far as possible (i'm 6'2), and this helped a little, but I still get the foot stuck once in a while, causing me to race the engine and get a jerky start/shift. Basically, I've yet to find a good seating position where I have good reach to depress the clutch ALL THE WAY DOWN, be able to shift normally without pulling my right arm out, and being comfortable sitting.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, what did you do to alleviate it? Please don't say "drive barefoot", or something ridiculous like that--I need some reasonable advice.

Also, I sometimes feel like I'm not pressing the clutch ALL the way down (perhaps 95%) because the top of my foot brushes up against the top panel, and I can't let the pedal go down all the way. Is this really bad for the clutch if I let the pedal down about 95-97% down? As well, anyone have THIS problem?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time.

I have that problem only with dress shoes and when i have my foot too high on the clutch., learn to drive with ur heal farther from the pedal. Otherwise, go wear tennis shoes or running shoes. It aint barefoot but should be better.

I had that happen to me a few times. I ended up just adjusting the placement of my food on the clutch pedal. I basically use the top part of my foot when pressing the clutch down. I also have my seat adjusted so that I get almost full leg extention on the clutch leg. Not too much extention though because of making sure I press the clutch all the way down. I don't always press it all the way down, but I don't think that hurts the clutch. (at least in my experience. this is the 5th vehicle that I have owned that has a stick)
