Tokico Blue or KYB GR-2?

I have searched and searched and found some good info. I am getting the Maxspeeds and want to know what you guys feel would be the better strut/shock, Tokico Blue or KYB GR-2? Where is the best place to buy?

Tokico Blue's life-time warranty wins my vote. Not sure if GR2 has the same warranty. IMO, both struts arent too good for lowering springs.

What do you recommend for my 2001 GLE?

KYB AGX - u can either wait for the 5th gen strut or buy Cattman's modded 4th gen struts.

how's the road condition of your area? if the roads are filled with potholes like my area. I would suggest to go with something stronger.

happy modding

I just installed my toks today. Before I was running H&R's on stock. I must say that in the short time that I have used them, I like them a lot better than stock. The ride is more controlled and you can tell that the toks dampen things up a bit over stock. With stock it was fine until you hit bumps! There was really not much cush to it. I went with the toks because I did not want to put the modifed AGX's on my car. I just hope they last!

Toks = Smooth ride
GR2 = A bit firmer
AGX = A bit more sporty/firmer, adjustable up to holly $hit thats tight. (requires modification to fit your 5th gen)

What kind of ride do you like is the real question here? The spring your going with isn't going to drop you to much so either strut will mate up just fine.

I'm not sure why people consider the GR-2 to be firmer than the Tok Blue. As far as I understand they are intended to be direct competitors and both similar in tension. I would say, pick the one you get the better price and warranty on.

I have the Tokico Blue's myself...the GR2's weren't available for the 5th gen when I did the swap.

Everything that I've read during my own research suggests that the Tokico blues and the KYB GR-2's are about the same performance-wise and have similar warranties. Additionally, one guy that I work with used to work for Tokico in Japan, and he said the KYB's are a better shock for mild lowering springs. I know that doesn't carry much weight here but it sold me on the GR-2's. So far so good.

Thank you for the help. I am leaning toward the KYBs. I want the firmer shock of the two. If anyone knows of a good place to buy them please let me know.

Shox.com always gives you the best price (if you find them cheaper just send them the add and they'll beat the price).
