I just purchased a '97 SE a couple of months ago. The standard NGK spark plug for this car is PFR5G-11. I pulled one to inspect them and it was a PFR4G-11. I assume this is one heat range colder or warmer. Can anyone tell me which it is and why the prevoius owner may have changed to this plug? Thanks.

 

its 1 heat range warmer.. which is not good at all..

Why is it not good at all? What does it cause?

 

Somebody told me that copper plugs are better then platinum...is this true? they said yes its like a 40 K mile plug but it give more HP to the car

 

It is not good because the hotter plug causes the engine to run hotter. Years ago I had a BMW motorcycle when I was living up north in Indiana that I was usings plugs one heat range hotter. This was okay in the wintertime but I forgot to change them when I rode the bike down to Florida. Bike ran hot in the hot weather and I burned a hole in one of the pistons. So you see, NOT GOOD!
