I had to use fire to modify my car

Ive been so lazy lately my car is still not back on the road. Anyway I got unlazy and decided to do my control arms which I had pulled off the car a while ago. I first tried a dremel and cutting disc, but that proved to make a huge rubber smoke show. My mom pulled up in the driveway and from the smell asked if I was doing burnouts.

the rear bushings werent hard to get off, just took some brute force. I used a screw driver and beat off with a hammer till the rubber slid right off. The front cylinder bushings were a bit more difficult. I wound up taking a road flare and directing the flame into the hole, so the metal bushing heated up and then I beated it out witha hammer. Then I took a hacksaw, inserted it through the cylinder and hacksawed the outer part of the bushing. Then I took a screwdriver and beat on it until the metal seperated and I was able to get the cylinder out. Now I have to put rear main seal back in, the upper and lower oil pans, the clutch the trany and the suspension and my car will drive once again.

Next time drop them off at your local mechanic to have the old bushings pressed out and the new ones pressed in. Even a tranny shop has presses.

You could have been home on the couch with your lazy a$$ having a beer while they did the work for about 10 bucks!

No shop charges $10 for anything anymore. I think the minimum charge is like $75 heh.

My friend has a press. The control arms are at a wierd angle that you cant get the correct angle into the unit. Oh well this job actually isnt as hard as many people make it out to sound. I just hope the NVH doesnt increase exponentially with these bushings.
