2K-2K1 horn placement (supertones)

Just checked the placement of the horns on the 5th gen 2K. One of the horns is mounted strange, so I'm curious how some of you have installed it. You can see the front metal cross bar right below the horn, so I doubt a larger horn will fit there.

.

The other horn is mounted to the left of the center column behind the grill and should be easy to swap out.

Tanman, it's really weird to see the location of your horn. Mine are located on the center beam behind the grill and in the engine compartment, next to the winshield washer fluid reservoir.

I installed my Hella Supertones a few weeks ago.. I'll try to snap a pic if I get home and it's bright outside.. Mines are both behind the grill. Mounted under the hood latch.

I don't know if the SC installers moved it there or what. So what I'm hearing is that no one else's is located there? My Maxima is early model 2000 (July 1999). Maybe they changed it after that.

Irvine78, I thought Kevin had Fiamm air horns?

I guess I can either squeeze the 300mhz into that tight space, or I can relocate the horn and extend the power wire.

Got any other pics of your OEM horn? Yours seem to be bent upwards. You should be able to mount them the way I have below.

I'd sure try to re-locate the horn, rather than trying to squeeze the Hella in that location. That sure doesn't look like the factory location...that nut and bolt don't look factory to me.

Those supertones are designed to project their sound in a narrow pattern straight away from the unit, so the ideal placement would be facing forward, right behind the grille, if you can mount them there.

Where did you guys buy those horns...I hate my horn and would love a great throaty sound to get old ladies out of the way.

Same here. I think he's going to have another gd for these horns soon (or was it something else?).

As far as throaty, these horns are more like ear-ringing, from what I hear. You'll do more than scare those old ladies .

That bracket & bolt don't look stock. I don't know why any thing would have to be moved in front of the radiator unless you got a intercooler with the SC

The only thing in front of the radiator is the power steering cooler, which I thought was stock for our cars. The SC installers might have had to move the PS cooler, so they had to move the horn too?
