just bought a 02 se max today

6200 miles, loaded(except nav), sterling silver, for $19k+tax. It's an auto, but the deal was too good to pass up. I was really considering an g35,accordv6 or wait until the next max to come up but the value of this max can't be beat....hope i've made the right decision. I also own a '97 max gxe, and this car is so much better. Damn, it's smooth and powerful. My only gripe is there's a hissing noise coming from the rear window/or trunk when i'm going pass 60mph. Any of you had this problem?

That is a great deal I wish I would have waited and got a used Maxima instead of buying new! To think that your car cost 19K and mine cost me 27K with the same features...

Me too. I don't think I will buy a new car again. You can find deals on cars with very low miles and save BIG $$$!

That is a good deal. I paid $26,200 for my 2k3 in September. When the new one comes out in Jan I will have the "old style"

A few people have mentioned a TSB for 5th gen's concerning (I believe) how the rear windows are seated. This allows air through the window and is probably the hissing sound. Check the TSB
s. You should also check your car for the transverse link recall and gas pedal bumper recall. The link was significant (although it only took a day to do) whereas the pedal bumper was minor (and again took only a short time to do). Don't get me wrong, this is a great car. I just thought since you might as well check on the known issues.

thanks for the info, ajahearn, the previous owner actually had the link recall already fixed......but what exactly is a TSB?.....as for today when i check my car in the morning, I realize the inside rear window fogged up pretty badly,(icy inside)but the outside and every other window was clear and dry. Could this mean a bad seal in the rear window?

TSB=Technical Service Bulletin. It's a list of common problems and fixes so the repair techs don't have to reinvent the wheel every time they have a problem. We have a sticky thread set up here. Dealers don't have to fix TSB items for free but many do.

Welcome to the .org. Read the FAQ and find the search button at the top right of the page: they help a lot.

Great deal on the 2k2. I was wondering what resale was on my car.
