Speakers and holes in door?

I've had much experiance with amps, subs, and radios, but not any with replacing speakers in the doors of a car.

Just a quick question:

Are you supposed to air-tight seal all the holes in the doors? I know it is very important to separate the air infront of the speaker from the air behind it but all that's in the doors is flimsy piece of plastic covering all the holes?

Also, I plan to dynomat (well, Peal & Seal ) and was wondering if I should do that on the inside of the door (the other side of the door that you see from the outside) as well as the part behind the door trim?

Thanks!

For most speakers, no a completely airtight isnt nessesary, but its always a good thing to have. I have both the inner door as well as between the door and the door panel completely sealed with 3 to 4 layers each to deaden the door. PLus the custom fiberglass baffles I built are sealed as well....(although they do vent into the inner door cavity.

It all depends on your level of commitment.... And how good the speakers you use are. You put some 200 dollar speakers in, don't spend a fortune making baddles and sealing the door. You have Utopias or something like that in, there, by all means do it. I put 2 layers on the inside of the door and 2 layers on the outside. Makes a difference, but not epic.
