get the plastic
The reason to use to wrap is to have a quite ride. make no difference to use the plastic or rubber, cuz they all make it quite. but since the car is so heavy and the hot/cold weather condition, using soft rubber doesn't make sense (I guess). In addition, it's hard to find rubber wrap cuz they all plastic (or the poly-whatever-i-don't-know-how-to-spell material).

Hi,

What is this about wrapping springs? I would like to know or see a pix of one wrapped. How does it help with make the ride quiet? It it only done on all springs or front?

People do the wrap on a few of the tigher bound coils on the springs to prevent metal touching metal. It will curb the rubbing sounds while you suspension dips. Do a search. There are photos on other threads here.

Personally, I like the radioshack helical cut wire wrap. I tried both the radioshack stuff and the home depot recommended stuff. The home depot tubing was a super major ***** to get on. In fact, I doubt if it would be possible to put it on without cutting it up. The radioshack stuff is already cut in a fairly tight helical cut and installs very simply. It also seems to be quite durable.

I wrapped my springs with the home depot suff and I still have horrible noises!! No clue to what it can be? And I changed my Strut bearings.. Requin6 rode in my car.. it sucks.

i would think that the soft rubber would cause less noise and work much better than plastic. I think that some of the noise people here get after installing thw wrap is maybe because the actual wrap from the different coils actually rub against each other. I think i might wave found a good alternative......ill let u guys know when u try it.

i just ordered new springs for my ground control coil over's today. I got a different spring rate at 550 lbs all around. I hope this will be better than the current setup, but do you guys think that the actual coils will touch each other on that? I mean since the coils are so much smaller than ordinary springs, they probably dont compress as much as other lowered springs and possibly wont even touch each other...what do u guys think?
