Car will not start or crank.

Observations
- battery is fine, I even tried a new one
-alternator should be ok too, since even with a new battery it wouldnt crank.
-ecu code is 0505, no errors
-I just finished the supercharger v1 install y'day, and have an egt,fp, and boost guage, with only the boost guage actually working right now. I haven't had a chance to hook up anything on the other 2 except lighting.
- I was at a light, turned off the car real quick to show a friend something while in D... then tried to restart the car, didnt do anything, then realized I was still in D, so I shifted to park and tried to start her but it wouldnt do anything.. The needles on the guages were moving erratically, and my car's oem guages were registering correctly, including engine temp....
-When I try to crank it, lights go dim/ clock light goes off like it normally does, but it won't crank AT ALL, much less turn over.
-I can hear the injectors pulsing, but no ignition fire
-I can also hear my walbro working in the rear

I have no clue what to do at all at this point... Thomas let me know that I should check the fuses, I'll do that as soon as it gets above friggin 40 degrees and quits raining... Until then, you guys got any ideas?

I just hear to many things about the starters to not mention that. The install may have just been a coincidense, my starter went out too. I'm not sure if your symptoms are that of a starter but try this.

The starter is located right under the stock air box. Have a buddy tap it with a hammer while you try to crank it. If it fires up then it's definatly your starter.

I hope this at least gives you somthing to try out, sorry to hear about your max, but hey congrats on the supercharger.

Im not sure that the starter would just go though. Were there any other signs of the starter going bad in the past? It could be something that is shorting out your system and that is why it dims and your gauges are all messed. Maybe try unwiring whatever you did for the install.

Actually, the starter on my mom's 97 just went out one day. My dad and his friend put it back in in less than 15 minutes so it shouldn't be too hard if that's the faulty part.

Did you check the fuses yet? Perhaps the ignition fuse is dead.

Re: yeah

ok i'll check the fuses when it stops friggin raining 2day... as well as the tapping the starter and trying to crank her up... jeez this just sucks...

A driver that delivers to my workplace mentioned on domestics that there is a neutral safety switch on his car, do we have one? Also, since my clock does go out for the split second while im trying to crank, is this normal? or am I getting a short

This sounds exactly like what I had last week, and it was the starter. No problems previously and my wife went to drive it. Turned over once then stopped, never cranked again but just clicked. Clock lights dim when the key is turned. Starter is easy to pull and check at local Autozone. Old starter ran on their tester but threw sparks as it required lots of power to spin. Put in a new starter ($148 ) and it works great. Now 700 miles from home on vacation.

Check the fuses first but my bet is the starter.

Re: Car will not start or crank.

did you make sure you snapped the (just had a brainfart and forgot the name of the sensor) the one thats located on the chain cover directly behind the plate, the crank sensor did you snap it back into place? are all your intake tubes connected? those are two things that I know off the top that wont let the car start. Also if the ambient air sensor wire if you didnt cover it up it will short becuase my did and I couldnt figure it out and that cost me $515.00 at the dealership.

You might doublecheck your battery and starter connections. If the battery connection is not tight and clean, your low power accessories will work but the large power drain required for the starter to work will not happen.

cam timing sensor or whatever, is plugged in, intake hoses are fine, vacuum is ~ 21 inches HG...

where is the ambient air sensor wire?
