Yeah,I just spent a couple hours and FINALLY got these in. They rock are worth it.

Now I have one question: The rear Konis are set to about 2.5 half turns, and the trunk lid is going crazy over bumps. What do you guys suggest to keep the crazy thumping and extra noise under control?

Is it an issue with the rear suspension or the trunk lid? IOW are you experiencing a jarring ride in the back along w/ all the noise or is the ride fine but the trunk just banging around?

If the problem is just the rear trunk, I'm sure you can just adjust the latch so that the trunk closes tighter.

OTOH if you are experiencing general jarring from the rear, then you would probably have to try out other settings for the rear struts.

 

2.5 turns? I think you have it on full hard... I have mine set almost at full soft.

 

2.5 HALF turns, or 1.25 turns. Stupid Koni...why not make it 5 full turns for greater degree of adjustment?

Anyways, GlenH, how do I adjust the trunk lid to close tighter? As of yet I was planning to put a piece of rubber cushion where the trunk lid "legs" sit on the body. Think this will work?

I haven't done this on my 96 Max, so I'm not 100% sure it will work. But, on my original 87 Max, I was able to adjust the hook for the latch. I moved the hook a bit higher so that when the latch grabbed the hook, the trunk was closed tighter. I haven't taken a look at the trunk latch/hook on my 96, but I can't imagine the design would be very different. You should be able to do some minor adjustments.

Also, I think the rubber cushions would work as well depending on where you place them.
