Quirk Nissan service

I'm going to call Quirk Nissan in Braintree, MA tomorrow to schedule an appointment to have the following issues fixed:

clutch noise TSB
transverse link recall
clock rattle
right rear rotor is shot
6 sp transmission shifts horribly
ticking blower motor

Anyone on the org ever take there car here to have the clutch/trans fixed? If so, what was the result? I have got to get this fixed because as of right now I hate driving this car. All of the other problems I can live with if need be but the transmission is a piece of s**T! Can anyone recomend another reputable dealer in MA just in case this doesn't work out?

Thanks in advance for any input/advice....

I've always had 'good' service with Jerry Rome Nissan in West Springfield, MA... but that's sort of a haul from Braintree..

The only thing they can't fix for some reason is my drivers seat memeory function. *shrug*

Just called Quirk to schedule an appmt. Service guy told me that clutch is only warranteed for 12 mos irregardless of whether it's defective or not. Anyone else ever hear this? I looked in the warranty books and it makes no mention of this whatsoever.

I would stay away from Quirk as well. I looked into them when I was purchasing the Max, but they treated me like ****, so I never gave them a second thought. I would try Clay Nissan as well, it's in Dedham on Rt.1A. I'm not sure how good their service is (I haven't brought my car in to anyone yet), but it's worth a shot.

As far as the clutch is concerned, I'm not sure, but I would guess that it sounds legit considering the clutch is a "wear and tear" item, like brake pads for example, and I don't think the warranty covers "wear and tear" items. On the other hand, if it's completely defective (i.e. not worn out, but some mechanical problem), I think they should fix it--not sure what the warranty says about that though. Good luck, and keep us posted. I'd be interested to hear which dealership you go to for service, and how you like them.

Great...

I bought my max just under a year ago from Quirk Nissan in Braintree!

I've brought my car in there a couple times for service, never had any problems...but it's always been routine maintenance or TSB service.

One of the service guys there, his son does detailing on the side. He did a great job with my car

I guess I'll have to keep my eyes & ears open on the 'org for more info. Hopefully I won't have to go to Quirk for anything but regular maintenance... *knocks on wood*

If Quirk in Braintree is closest to you Kev, you should definitely be able to get out to Clay Nissan on Rt 1 in Dedham...not a far ride at all. Plus you get to avoid the mall traffic around Quirk...

I live in Randolph, and Quirk is practically a straight (albeit 20 minute) drive for me, so it's convenient.

the guys i deal w/ are fireside in n. attleboro and natick nissan. natick is where i bought the max and fireside is where i bought the pathfinder. im one of those guys that brings the car back to where he bought it for service ... until they jerk me the 2nd time. call me stupid, but i would rather they have the complete history of my car in one place.

both have been pretty good to me.

good luck! what year is the max?

I have an appointment scheduled for tomorrow but I think I am going to cancel so I can go skiing this w/e. When I do reschedule it will probably be with Clay or Natick Nissan. The rep at Quirk (their name is ironic isn't it?!) tried to make me feel like an idiot when I brought up the TSB for the clutch... He said the clutch is only warranteed for 1yr/12k and they would take a look at it but it was probably going to cost me if I wanted it fixed. I can't find this info anywhere in the documentation for the car. The weird thing about this car and what drives me crazy is that all the problems are intermittent, unfortuanately they are there more often then they are not. I drive my girl's 2k2 jetta 4 banger sometimes and that transmission feels a million times better than mine on it's best day. Too bad the car has no power, but the good trans makes it fun too drive. She drove my car the other day and loved it but she was missing shifts like crazy. Sometimes she could't even put it in 2nd gear. Ironically, I bought this car because I hated my 2k GLE's automatic tranny. That at least shifted smoothly if you didn't beat on it. Oh well, live and learn. I learned that I will never buy another Nissan product again....

Thanks everyone for your input/advice. I'll let you know what happens when I finally get it to a dealer. I've said this before but wouldn't it be a graet idea to have some sort of dealer rating thread on this website to let everybody know who to stay away from and who to go to? This would help make the crappy dealers change their ways or lose business from us. I start by giving Kelly Nissan in Lynnfield, MA & Quirk both Ds...
