How many of you have done the valve body mod?

Is it worth the money? Did it give any hp gains? Tell you impressions of the mod.

im a 5th gen owner and i love mine. it doesnt increase hp just strengthens the tranny and makes the shifting quicker and crisper. i have no complaints about it and i love mine.
here is a link on somemore info on the VB mod, also its only for Auto's only.

Ok, I am the valve body master! For newbies, do a search on "valve body" and you will see MANY people who have done it.

Just so you aren't steered in the wrong direction... I am going to tell you now, call "Maximum Tuning" for any of your recalibrated valve body needs.

The valve body makes the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts MUCH faster. With 'faster', comes firmer, harder, head snapping shifts. I absolutely love my VB mod. Without considering my 1/4 mile times, I'd have to say it's BY FAR the best mod I have. Daily driving, it's awesome... I can bark 2nd gear any time I want naturally aspirated. I can't imagine my car without it now. In fact, when I ride in other cars... I'm like... geez you have a slow shift!

As far as track times, some people see a few tenths difference. When you're running any kind of forced induction, then you will see great gains and you will be doing your tranny a favor. Personally, I only saw about 1 tenth difference in my 1/4 mile times. But, I'm very glad I have this mod.

I have mobiletek's VB mod. VB mod reduces the lag between shifts on an auto tranny thus potentially increasing the life of the tranny when running juice , boost etc.

No reduction in 1/4 mile; times merely done to prolong the life of a boosted tranny.

A transmission cooler should be used in conjunction with this mod!!

1. Most people will admit there is little or no difference in their 1/4 miles times.

2. There is also absolutely no way to prove it makes your transmission last longer or makes it stronger either, thats mostly hype by people selling it and people trying to justify why they spent that much money.

3. Don't buy one until you throughly read the "Dealership and Shops" forum.

4. If you just want the fastest shift possible and want to be able to switch it on and off, do the drop resistor mod. It does work and reduced my 1/4 mile et by at least .2.

Race safe and only spray in your forward gears.

how does it shift in normal, everyday driving? Also, with the power/comfort switch does that still do its job even with the VB? I mean the firmer shifts are nice for spirited driving but when i have people in the car and driving for awhile i wouldnt want those "hard shifts" to get annoying

Normal everyday driving for me means, making the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts at around 2-3K rpm. When you do that, the tranny bangs into place. Which it fine by me! But, you get used to it and learn how to drive it normally. Like in my case, if I rev it higher than 4K rpm, then the tranny will shift into the next gear very crisp and smooth. So, it's not annoying. It's just a smooth snap and the car lurches slightly. If I was WOT, then the car would lurch and bark the tires. So, when I am trying to make the shifts as smooth as possible when I had guests in my car, I will either accelerate REALLY REALLY slow, or I will ease on the throttle and make the shift happen at around 4K where it snaps smoothly into the next gear and it's not nearly as harsh of a bang.

If I make the 1-2 and 2-3 shift below 1800 rpm, (which is really hard to do without getting rear ended) then the tranny shifts without a bang.

And remember, I have the Maximum Tuning valve body, which is different than Don's VB. I've had Don's VB installed in my car and the shifts were a BANG at all revs. At WOT, the gear would clunk into place INSTANTLY. At partial throttle, the gear would still bang into place much like the Max Tuning VB.

But at WOT is where the difference is made. Don's just bangs into place instantly where as Maximum Tuning's VB snaps into place and the car lunges forward. And the Max tuning shifts are just as instant as Don's.

As for the P/C switch, the VB has absolutely nothing to do with that. The ONLY thing the VB mod does is raise the fluid pressure in order to achieve a faster shift. EVERYTHING else is exactly the same.

Thats exactly what the drop resistor mod does, raise the fluid pressure to its maximum, plus its switchable. Best of all its FREE.

On my car at least, the VB helped out a lot after I got the SC. When I first got the SC, the car was continuously bouncing off the rev limiter because it was taking so long to shift. So I couldn't ever hit full boost basically. After the VB, the car was shifting crisply.

My tranny is probably going on me since I don't think the SC should have been enough to make it slip like that while shifting. But that's why I've got a spare in the garage.
