auto 4th gen guys...new best 14.68@95.54mph

Just got back from the track, and I am very pleased. The temp was about 45-50 degrees, with the sun shining on the track. I had many new bests, here is the timeslip from my best time

R/T....685
60ft...2.249
330ft..6.235
1/8th..9.472
mph....77.54
1/4....14.68
mph....95.54

I also had a best 1/8th mile time of 9.46@77.70mph, and on another pass I ran a perfect light (.500)for the first time. I matched my best 60 ft time of 2.22 on another run, but hit the rev limiter so the time was no good.
I am especially impressed with the mph that my car is running in the 1/4 mile, because it is very high for an auto. There were some really fast cars at the track today as well. A new 6 spd tiburon with the V6 ran a 14.4 with intake, exhaust, and gutted cats. My friend Andy ran a new best in his lS1 firebird with a 12.6@115mph, and he only has a lid, headers, exhaust, and weight reduction.

Sweet dude! Good Job! I know how hard it is for a NA Auto to get that deep in the 14's and to have a trap speed that high. Great job! Did you do anything else to your car since you ran the 14.77?

no...same mods as before, only thing I have done was just clean my intake and throttle body, also I ran that 14.77 when it was a little warmer.

NICE! Weather conditions have a lot to do with times. BTW, what track did you run at? What city?

Sounds like a sticky track! Elevation is about 600 feet. Which will hinder your 1/4 mile times by about a tenth. Come to NC and you should be running 14.58. Sound nice, huh? Nice 60' BTW.

I've seen some decent times come from KS. The elevation in Wichita is 1300', which is not good. But the closer you are to KC, then the better. About 800' for KC I believe.

DAYUM! Think you can make it to low 14s 96sleeper? A 14.3-sec auto would be unbelievable! Not to mention something to rag on 5spds about hehe.

That must be one hell of a track because I constantly read about incredible ET/MPHs for all makes and models when they run at that track. Awesome times I must say. A 12.5@115 from an LS1 with a lid/headers/exhaust/weight reduction is absolutely unheard of. Z06s don't even pull those kinds of ETs/MPHs in Kansas City, not even close. An LS1 F-Body with those mods is LUCKY to go 13.4s here. The quickest NA F-Body at KCIR runs lower 12s @114. His mods are a cam, heads, headers, NO exhaust, NO rear interior, full slicks, 12-bolt rear end, 6000rpm launches. With a 100-shot he gets mid 11s in the mid 120s.

BTW, the altitude in Kansas City ranges from ~950' to ~1200'. Believe me, I work for a civil engineering firm, I know these things KCIR (my track) sits at ~1080'.

You're going to be disappointed running a KCIR, but it's our only real choice.

You've got to be making Blubyu2k2 a bit nervous You're only a couple tenths away from his best on street tires. I believe you're MPHs are nearly identical.

That LS1 also ran at another track in Kentucky (Beechbend Raceway). The day was crap and the track wasn't maintained very well, but he was still traping 112's-113's??

Oh, NICE JOB MATT!!! 5spd need to watch out! Can't wait to go back to Steele, going to change my plugs before and hopefully I can trap 95-96mph.

If not I am going to have to go talk to my neighbor in Kentucky that makes turbos!! lol

I already have testpipe. And if anyone wants to buy me a present, then I want the mandrel 2.5" b-pipe from WSP. $150!! I have a straight thru muffler coming in the mail, but since things will get too loud with Y, testpipe, and straigh thru, I will only be using that for the track.

Yes, of course I have my work cut out for me. But, don't be so sure that I will be able to match those times. I mean, come on... look at those trap speeds AND that 60'. My best 60' is 2.32. I have a long ways to go. Well, maybe I shouldn't compare my 60' to a VQ Auto... they have much more torque down low, right?

I am going to make another HDM today. I am going to hook up a midpipe. I am also going to check out die grinder kits. Well, I'm off to go shopping. Later!

Congrats on the time!

That is what you should be running with that trap speed on your auto. When I was running 14.4-14.3 in my auto, I was trapping 96-97mph.

These conditions that I ran in are similar to the day when I ran a 14.948 @ 91.49mph before the variable intake. So basically, the variable intake is good for about 3 tenths and 4 mph on a fully modded maxima with an ECU. I am not done yet either. I was gonna order nitrous soon, but I think I am gonna get an UDP and a torque converter too see how far it will go.

What are your #'s on the dyno? Also, what were you running on for tires? Size, brand, which rims.

Travis-

It's not the tires because his 60 foots are similar to yours. You too would be a lot quicker on a different track.

He just posted that he runs 205/50-15 tires so that in effect gives him a 4.0 final gear. Team that up with more midrange torqe via ECU + topend pull of the MEVI = Low ET and higher trap.

The tires actually don't help as much as you think, I made one pass before I left with my 16's with 225/50-16 tires and it was still a 14.7x@95.10mph, and the 60 ft time was not that great.
