Last week on Deer Park Ave out on L.I.... I just came off the highway when a silver 5th gen made a U turn and followed me up the ave. He pulled up right next to me at the first red light... nuthin but clear road ahead. He revved his engine so I knew he wanted to race and I'm not the type to back down. It was a 2000 or 2001 with an intake and exhaust. I completely spanked him off the line and continued embarrassing him in the long run. This went on for three more times before he just gave up. Wasn't he suppossed to be faster? He had one person in the car, but I have some heavy subs in my trunk. All I have is the intake really. Anyway... I wasted him.

ok, i like maximas and all, but, is that a photoshopped grill onto that 4G?

I believe anything is possible. You may have very well beaten a 5G. More power to you. Your particular maxima looks pretty nasty, but, hey, you're obviously about performance over fashion (especially with that automatic)...

Why come to this particular board to start a fight? Cause i see no real question in your post...

dude i've been through a few maximas and I think the 4th gen GLE just can't take a stick. I've had a 4th Gen GLE and 2 4th GEN SEz 1 stick 1 auto and there is no way the GLE would take a stick 5th gen. now Auto to Auto might be another story but if U did, then U didn't kill the guy, U beat him but didn't kill him, cars are too closely matched to kill anyone really.

Personally speaking, I have the utmost respect for the 5th gens. (right, madmax2k?) They're much stronger up top than the 4th gen. but if someone doesn't know how to drive, anything's possible.

First off... that isn't photoshopped. Second, I didn't come to start a fight. I was just lookin' for some feedback since I always thought all 5th gens were better. But I guess not all of them are. And finally, my max is f***in' beautiful... your max is the one that looks like a Sebring in the front and a Taurus in the rear.

Uhhh! and that statement is what?

Listen... an auto 4G is better geared than a 5G. Your auto will let you take your max to redline before shifting, the 5G don't, most of the power in the 5G max comes at top of the powerband. So the extra HP in the 5G is there but could use the help of the transmition rations and being able to take it to redline before shifting.

The 4th gen autos seem to be faster. The 5th gen sticks are faster than 4th gen. What do you run in the 1/4?

Also, how can you be so sure he had intake and exhaust? I can believe you would notice the exhaust. Most 5th gen leave that alone though. Some 4th people install the 5th gen muffler.

No comment on that grill.

Fair enough. Which intake did he have?

Run your car in the 1/4 or do you only street race?

With all this bad weather we've been having in the NorthEast lately...are you sure that he wasn't stuck there spinning on a patch of ice while you just took off?
I think that would be the only way he could of lost...unless maybe he took off in 3rd gear instead of 1st.
But I'm sure you guys discussed all this when he pulled over and popped his hood for you.

I'ld be the first to admit my car just sits there and spins the tires when I try to take off quick b/c I have no grip b/c of the cold weather. Not starting anything but the 5th Gen is faster then the 4th 1/4mile.

If you think your max is f***in' beautiful, more power to you. I'm questioning how my max looks like a Sebring in the front and a taurus in the rear? Is it my specific maxima or 5g maximas in general? I'm confused, please clarify. Well, congrats, you beat a 5g with your automatic. I'm honored to be posting in the same forum with such greatness.

Inspirational feedback:
4G = lighter, less HP, better auto gearing and shift points
5G = heavier, more HP, worse auto gearing and shift points

Stick shift vs. stick shift, stock vs. stock, 5G will beat a 4G. Auto Vs. Auto, stock vs. stock, in theory, the 5g should still win, but, the 4G has a nicer auto tranny that allows redline shift points.

I like my brother's 96 GXE Auto. His maxima was the reason why i bought mine...also the reason why i bought a 5spd (and plus, driving a CRX with a stick is insanely fun!)

Hey Terry! Havent seen you on here in a while!

Nice ET/mph...I think you are one of the fastest/quickest Max's out there.....seeing as how you even had Mad Max beat there for awhile! Youve got almost every 5g out there beat. In fact, I havent seen a single other NA 5g post a quicker ET than yours. (Except me...hehehhehehehe) So much for the "lowly" 4th gen theory...LOL

Re: Re: ... alright...

We had this debate before MAXUS of 99 way way back. Let me tell you I had to prove people wrong. I ran a HEAVY modded 95 Maxima SE auto, that had YPIPE, EXHAUST, Pulleys, JWT intake, sticky tires at that, a few other things I can't think about. 95-96 were the fastest years in the 4th gen.

My 5th gen had a CAI and ypipe that was all. I had a feeling I would loose. We have people taking pictures and witness that saw this race. The race had money on it as well at MAXUS. Let's just say that my 5th gen smoked the 4th gen by 1 1/2 cars by my top of 2nd gear in my auto. We both took off, we both had wheel spin, but the 5th gen pulled harder off the line, and got going much faster.

Sorry but a 5th gen auto vs a 4th gen auto stock for stock the 5th gen will win.

Yikes!! What's up with that grill on his GLE?

I don't think it's that uncommon for a 4th gen auto to beat out a 5th gen auto. While the gearing is the same, the powerbands and torque curves are a bit different plus the 5th gen has got 100lbs more to lug around and the other Max did have a passenger. That 5th gen could have weighed more than 400lbs over the 4th gen assuming a extra passenger and a full tank.

I have yet to see any hard proof that a modded 5 speed 5th gen Max is gonna be any quicker than a modded 5 speed 4th gen Max. Stock for stock, the 5th gen is just a tad quicker, but when modded it's a toss up. BS you say? Well look at MadMax's 14.38@96mph vs JeffKs 14.36@96mph. Both car's have nearly the same mods and they pulled the same 2.1X 60 foots. To Jeff's credit his best run was in mid July with upper 80 degree weather where as MadMax's was in 40 degree weather. I'd have to say either generation is about equal. You guys talk as if the 5th gen is world's above the 4th gen in acceleration, but it's not. If it was so much quicker, then people would be posting mucg quicker ets and trap speeds out of the their 5th gens than 4th gens. The 5th gen will be ever so slightly quicker in a long topend race because it has a few hundred more rpms to work with.

BTW, I love 5th gen Max's. I just hate reading some of the blind ignorance on these forums.

OK, let me clear something up right now!!
I was up there that night when he raced that SLOW 5TH GEN...... The guy thought he was all hard and $hit with his little muffler and intake. When they were racing they flew by the parking lot i was in and PJ (4th GEN) was ahead of him by atleast 1/2 a car length. Trust me, they were moving, doin atleast 70mph. I even started with that guy later in the night and he had nothing. I schooled him off the line to about 50, then i stopped cause of cops that were cruising around up there. I have nothing against 5th gens at all. Im actually looking into maybe buying a 2001 Max. All im saying is that 5th gens are not unbeatable and that THEY DO LOOSE SOMETIMES!!! I mean i beat PJ and im driving a 96 he has a 97 both auto's, lol.
As for his car looking like a Mark 8, i think not. His car is one of the cleanest out there, besides my max! So dont go knocking something that you have never seen before in person. Im goin back to the 4th gen's where atleast those guys admit defeat and dont cry about it... peace!

I have yet to see proof of a 4th gen 5spd hitting 14.7 in the 1/4 STOCK. A 5th gen 5spd can and has several.

Ummm...who hit a 14.7 in a BONE-stock 5th gen? And what was their 60 foot? Russ, you act as if it's a common occurance. It's not, believe me.

BTW, if I remember correctly, I think Jeff hit a 14.8 with just an intake in his 95.

It is a common occurence! Obviously you haven't been watching this board. At least 5 people who ran there 5th gens stock have hit high 14s. 14.7 was the best, but mostly 14.8-14.9 was what they are getting.

Sprung
MadMax (14.7) stock

uggg now I can't remember there handles.....but there on here.

Whoever you raced must be a real bad driver, as for everyone on the FORUM who thinks this is crap, I wasn't there so I can't say **** can I ? But I know PJ(The Threadposter) and I know he doesn't need to talk smack about 5th Gen Maximas cause I always chill with him and Anthony, Mike, I've met other Maxima owners there, and if any of you in NYC-NJ area have been to DPA, you'd know you got plenty of space to go 100mph, and judging from the post time of 4am. I was out at DPA on Wed Night, and there was no one on DPA, not even a cop at 2am. For those of you not in NYC-NJ, don't flame cause you own a 5th Gen, we are all part of a mature community of Maxima owners, not kids who own Hondas, that have decals that give 20 extra Hp.
As for the comment on Sebring Front, Taraus rear....LoL...it's like two kids slap fighting each other.
No insult to either party, but I guess its all about taste. If you ever see Maxima97GLE's car upclose, you'll appreciate the details in the work of his car....Maxx-s-ter, you both need to chill...you're car looks good too... I haven't seen it up close so I can't give praise to your details, but definitely PJ has one hot car. PJ get some interior shot, then we'll see some praise.

I can hear the paint scraping sounds from the driveway.
-Inside Joke between PJ, Mike, Anthony, and Myself.

-Peace
Your right Hogan. I acted like a kid in this forum. I apologize to all you 5th Gen owners out there. I ain't gonna post stuff on this forum no more.

Re: Re: MY RESPONSE

Your right Hogan. I acted like a kid in this forum. I apologize to all you 5th Gen owners out there. I ain't gonna post stuff on this forum no more.

Peace
comon now man, WTF is the problem here, we are going at each others throat here, so what if the guy beat a 5th gen, I had a BMW kill me on the road but I'm not crying about it, whats the big deal man. Looks like we get all worked up over some things, maybe his heading was wrong, but how meny times U guys have seen me joke around, I drive a maxima and I consider U guys to be on my side and not against me, what is the problem with jokeing around, U don't expect me to go to a honda board and joke around with them.

I don't know what the problem is really, We all drive maximas. I've never taken my car to the track, but if I run with another 5th gen and get my *** kicked then what I come here and bullsh!t that it didn't happin or I was day dreaming or whatnot, Just admit the 5th gen got burned or lost end the story, Track times and ice/snow/rain/bumps/dips in the road are 2 conditions that will throw the track times off a Porsche 911 so whats a maxima. My advice is just chill and respect other members, we don't need new people to think we are our own enemy, just relax guys.
