A few questions to those of you with led bulbs in taillights and signals...
When you put 1157 red led bulbs in your taillights, does your 3rd brake light come on with the park lights and get brighter when you brake? When I use to have my APC red led 1157 bulbs (10 small leds, 1 bigger led in the center) I had this problem, I took them out and never went back to them because of this, now that I have HIDs, I want amber bulbs all around but was thinking about led amber bulbs and red led bulbs for the tails again. Is it the APC design of the bigger led in the center of the bulb causing this problem? Do the 15 small led bulbs do this? I did a search and never found the answer because no one seemed to ask this question. I know all about the narrow dispersion of the light from leds, but was wondering about the 3rd light problem? I am currently using a set of amber 195/168 led bulbs for my fender sidemarkers and they are the highest-quality I have ever seen and come with a 10 year warranty for blown leds. They work great and I wanted to get the rest of my bulbs to leds. They make other sizes and I was planning on trying them out but needed to know if their 15 led bulbs will give me the same problem. I know about using them in the turn signals and they'll flash faster, which I don't recommend, they make Load Equalizers to make them flash at the normal rate. I'm not sure if they're saying its just for signals, maybe this is what is needed for the taillights as well? The following are links to the great quality JamStrait led bulbs and Load Equalizers, what do you guys think? Is it just my cheap APC bulbs, or do all led bulbs, turn signal or brake lights, need these Load Equalizers? Call me stupid, but the Load Equalizer at the bottom of the 1st link say "Install across wires to LED Bulbs Brake/Tail for correcting computer or turn signal problems in any vehicle.", I'm assuming its needed for the use in any application where the 1156/1157 bulb flashes? Sorry for the long post, but I think I put out some good questions that could be useful to others.
Thanks,
Ben
