235/50-18 ???
235/50-18 ???
I am planning on getting some wheels soon and was planning on putting 235/40-18, but after reading so many threads about how rough the ride is, I'm starting to consider getting 235/50-18. The wheels I'm getting are 18x7.5, so techinically the 235/40 would be out of spec, but the 235/50 wouldn't. I know a lot of people on the org are running the 235/50-17 and like it, but would 235/50-18 look too big on my 2k max. Any input would be appreciated, especially from people running the 235/40-18 right now. How do you feel ride quality is? I am on H&R's right now too, so I don't know if I would have to worry about rubbing on the 235/50. Also if I go with the 235/50, is it difficult to correct for the speedo error on our max. Sorry for all the questions, and yes I used the search function already.

A lot will also be determined by the wheels chosen. I mean if they get too ghetto-ish they might end up LOOKING huge when in fact they are not that much larger.
I'm thinking of going with these rota battle's http://subydude.com/parts/details.php?102. In the correct bolt pattern of course and in 18x7.5. What do you guys think?

Re: 235/50-18 ???
Those tires would be way too tall for the Maxima. 235-50's are even too tall on a 17" rim.
If you want to ease the rough ride quality somewhat, a good alternate to 235-40-18s would be 225-45-18s. Not many tires to choose from in that size, though.
245-40-18s will also have a taller sidewall than 235-40-18s, so would also be a little more comfy. There are a ton of tires available in that size. 245-45s are not recommended for a 7.5" wide wheel, though. You would need at least an 8"er.

Some of us just don't like low profile tires and large wheel well gaps.
Here is a page that has two intrepids with 235/50-18 tires on them.http://www.discounttiredirect.com/dodgePage.html They don't look that bad. I am really just leaning toward this size because of hopefully a smoother ride and they have some at tirerack for $94 per tire. Igor, I would ideally want to run 235/45 like you, but there don't seem to be that many choices in that size. Anyone know about the speedo correction because according to the miata tire calculator I would be off by 7.7% with this size.
